hey someones review of the 2010 Kia Soul is on the Up to Speed blog

one of my favorite blog posts that i wrote last year was when ali and i went to coachella in a nissan convertible.

because ive been so busy (all year) i havent had time to review another new car, until this month. i told Up to Speed editor, Joni Gray that i didnt care what car she gave me, so she hooked me up with the Kia Soul because even though some people (karisa) dont think that im young enough to be driving such a thing, fortunately some Other people do.

next up, i think, i hope, will be an american built muscle car.

last week there was a rain delay at the Big East baseball championships

and instead of chilling out in the locker room playing cards and talking about girls, the dudes decided to have a dance off against each other

Connecticut and South Florida squared off in a classic Big East baseball tilt—or they tried to before a five-hour rain delay. So how do you kill time during the one thing more boring than Big East baseball? Simple: Worst community theater production of “West Side Story” ever.

Players from both teams spent the rain delay on Thursday trying to one up each other in the saddest dance competition since “You Got Served.” There were Michael Jackson impersonators, Riverdancers, Soulja Boyz, and believe it or not … the Macarena which I though had been banned by the Geneva Convention.

long time busblog reader Katie sends in this video and i thank her for thinking of us!

trust him, hes the notorious d.r.e.

does dr dre really need to be making commercials?

do i have to buy 100 miles and runnin again to keep the world famous producer in leather jackets and sneakers?

cub fan todd martens lays it out:

The rap impresario will appear in an ad for a major soda company — one that has some experience with long-awaited albums that can never possibly live up to your expectations. The clip will start airing on national television June 1, Billboard tells us.

The ad features a bit of “Detox,” but don’t get too excited. It’s only about eight seconds of a slow groove, and the crowd seems more interested in getting down with the soda than Dr. Dre.

todd just got a hair cut.

although i disagree with some of the “solutions” the Governator is choosing

to battle the budget crisis

From the LAT top blog this month, LA Now:

Los Angeles Unified School District officials announced today that all summer school classes are being canceled at elementary and middle schools, and only credit recovery courses will be offered at high schools. The reductions were prompted by the district’s budget deficit, which calls for $131 million in new cuts by June 30 and up to $273 million next year after voters overwhelmingly rejected a package of state ballot measures earlier this month. Once the measures failed, state legislators were left grappling with a $21.3 billion deficit and are considering cutting $5.3 billion from public school districts and community colleges over the next 13 months.

L.A. Unified is not alone. According to a recent survey by the California State PTA, nearly 41% of parent-teacher organizations around the state report cuts to summer school. Other districts reducing or eliminating summer offerings include San Carlos, Petaluma and Mount Diablo.

If I was governor, and I had a city like LA where only half of the kids graduate and only 10% go on to college, the last thing I would cut is education. but thats me, mr vegas.

how is it that i have a case of the thursdays?

i blame the dreaded three day weekend, of which so much depends.

people refuse to relax on three day weekends. even less so than they do on regular weekends. people seem to think that three day weekends mean even MORE activity even MORE traveling, even less relaxation.

i drove to san dieger and back on saturday which was fun, but i definately needed all of sunday to recover and most of monday to get my relax-on.

my mom sometimes asks me when i will settle down and have a family but my question is, wheres the settling part when you have a family? seems to me youre always running around picking up the kids, dropping off the kids, cleaning the kids, waking them up, putting them to sleep, rushing them here and there and then on a three day weekend you’re probably either trying to have them see a zoo or relatives or taking them to a ball game.

how is that settled? settled is what happens to your natural apple juice when its perfectly still. it settles. settling is what two combative lawyers do when they wanna chill out.

settling is ordering chinese at 1pm and nibbling on it in your pajamas surrounded by magazines and newspapers while flitting with a laptop in your bed. considering a movie. considering a lite jog. considering a stroll to the 7-11, but ultimately settling on a short conversation with a pretty girl who says come over and you say nah and she says fine i didnt wanna clean up my room any how.

the only pressure involves trying to squeeze out as much relaxation on that extra free day as possible.

however now its thursday and you can see friday around the bend but all that means is pressure to do stuff on saturday. will it involve a road trip. does it include vegas or the beach. what about the apartment that needs to be worked on. what about the new mattress that should be ordered.

i have a good friend who doesnt drink one drop of booze for a month each year. i think im going to institute a dont leave the house on the weekends for june rule. i know people are like omg but its soooo beautiful outside! let me clue you in to something in hollywood, its always beautiful outside.

but its far more beautiful to have peace of mind, which is a side effect of truly relaxing in ones castle.

the problem with digital photography is it hasnt been able to capture a womans heart

and the problem with modern digital photography is it has a very difficult time documenting the shockingly unique beauty of canadian girls, and christie st martin just may be the fairest of them all.

born to wolves in the 17th century, christie was bitten by a vampire bat during the darkest day of the winter. she wasnt aware that she was a vampire till she realized she must. have. blood. several boyfriends into her feast she looked at the mirror and it looked back and laughed. then she laughed. then the lifeless heads at her feet laughed. then the house itself laughed.

and christie st. martin was borned!

today is her birthday. if i was in toronto i would kiss her cheek, check out her bffs and karoake with her like we did in olden times. back before she bit me in the heart and made me her #1 fan.

christie has that sort of effect on people, men and women alike, even without using her dark mojo. just the opposite, she uses happiness and humor and fancy costumes and thigh highs and kittens and guitar hero. and then youre hooked. you adore her as if she was a baby messiah with red hair. you are amazed at her like the lord was when he worked out the kinks of gravity and watched all the planets float in space.

she is the reason canadas snows melt in the spring. she is the reason that stamps only cost 44 cents. she is the reason why i will probably always love jenga.

very few people are like christie. and thats probably because theres only so much awesome to go around.

happy 223rd birthday ms st martin!

my truest called me last night right before i was about to head off

on my midnight run. ive run in the day but i prefer doing it at night. i like to wear a knit cap and a hoodie and look like i just robbed a bank.

i put my headphones on and listen to howard stern and i dont even really listen i just need something in my ears to stop the brain from yammering on and on. i dont look at things, just the road. i dont really care where i am. i just wanna feel the ground on my feet. my shoes are that good.

what i need is a running intern. someone to hold my water bottle for me and look both ways as i run against red lights.

im so high maintence for a guy running two miles through hollywood.

this just in. i think im going to the Laker game tonight.

i am the luckiest man alive.
