tony, how do you feel about ppl who delete tweets and blogs?

smoke monster

i have known people who were chronic Deleters.

while on one hand it’s perfectly fine to change one’s mind, on the other hand its a foolish attempt at control.

you don’t control anything when you delete things on the web. it’s a web, what you put out there sticks. people screenshot it, people cache it. the web caches it.

but most importantly people remember.

and deleting things helps them remember because it brings more attention to it.

i loved a girl a while ago who started blogs, twitter accounts, facebooks, and would regularly delete them. turned out she was bipolar and refused to treat her condition.

it also turned out she was not being totally honest with the people in her life and her digital footprint often outted her for being less than truthful with some who trusted her.

from that experience i concluded several things, top of which was people who chronically delete things should probably seek professional help because their vain attempt at control is a symptom of something much deeper rooted in mental health.

the good news is these things can be treated.

the bad news is the catch 22: most people with mental health issues don’t realize the depths of their own illness and will fight against the very treatment they would benefit from.

so the best we can do is pray for them and constantly nudge them in the right direction.

sometimes it does truly take a village. so if you care about the village, do your part and nudge your loved ones.

  1. seriously, tony? you’re gonna compare me to your bipolar ex? i told you WHY i deleted it; i don’t appreciate your friends threatening to shut my blogs down! and since you’re being so honest, why don’t you tell everyone how you had my other blog blocked yesterday. i’m not bipolar. i’m protecting myself from asswipes who like to throw their weight around. mostly from eating mcdonald’s. delete this, jerk!

    • As a champion of blogging, and as someone who never blocked you on Twitter, why would I have your blog blocked? I am and have always been about Freedom. And especially freedom to write whatever nonsense you want. Meanwhile your response for an imagined threat of someone “threatening” to shut down a blog of yours is to shut it down yourself? How does that make any sense?

      • you were calling me a racist on twitter yesterday and right at that very moment, my advice blog got blocked. coincidence? ha! and i am NOT imagining being threatened; your former health reporter friend tweeted me he would have my diabetes blog shut down! i didn’t shut it down, myself. i just removed it from his line of fire!

          • that’s why god invented fucking emojis–because SOME people just can’t tell when others are JOKING! and i think you have a REAL sickness collecting people’s deleted tweets! this coming from a man who still uses the N word, prick!

          • are you outta your fucking gourd? it was a wild ass joke! if i were a racist, would i have fallen in love and agreed to marry a muslim from pakistan? would my best friend in grade school be hindu? would i daydream about “black” your penis? you just got your feelings hurt and now you’re using THAT to attack my character! ad hominem, jerkwad!

  2. and another thing! i’ve seen that picture of your room. and i don’t buy it! the only reason you can’t throw away garbage or delete posts is you’re a hoarder! you hoard everything — you especially hoard resentment, hurt and pain. maybe if you learned to LET GO of garbage (in every sense of the word) you wouldn’t be so uncomfortable around people in person! you’re scared they’ll hurt you like all the other hurt you’re still clinging to! maybe YOU should respect YOURSELF and see a SHRINK! (a REAL one; not the one from your imagination here -> http://busblog.tonypierce.com/2016/07/if-i-went-to-a-shrink-this-is-how-itd-go.html)

  3. one more… not deleting and hoarding shit (and shitty feelings) is ONE thing; but it’s not the ONLY thing, tony. why don’t you explain to everyone why you change your profile pic and header every other day? can’t decide, can you? kind of like not being able to decide on ONE woman. but what the fuck do i know? i blog at blogger — i’m at the mercy of the google gods. and a man who thinks he IS god!

  4. i shouldn’t be feeding your ego or your sick need to blog about every stupid little insignificant thing! i just know this is gonna end up on another blog post; a win for you, and another strike for me–someone with a REAL blog. a blog that actually HELPS people! not one that bellyaches that wikipedia removed your entry from their site. maybe if you were more careful about using those racial slurs you like so much, you wouldn’t have been fired from all your jobs, too! then again, there are SO many other reasons for THAT! do you have 15 years? *eye roll* ’cause this can turn into a case study. again, you’re a “bigger” blogger than me, tone. i can’t compete *sigh* i give!!!!!

  5. i’m gonna say this and then i’m never speaking to you again: you might have figured out a way to use digg and reddit to your advantage BUT you still don’t know how to BLOG! real bloggers don’t drive for uber. no offense to anyone who drives for uber! and if my advice blog ever “disappears” mysteriously again, i’ll know who did it.

    • weird, because some of my longtime readers said my blogging about Uber was the best thing they’d read from me in years. PROOF that one shouldn’t rely on the criticisms (or praise) of others, because the reviews will always be mixed.

with that said, if your blog ever “disappears”, there is one person that you should never suspect: the man who despises when anything is deleted online.
