bc on wednesday, after 22 years, im getting a new kitchen floor, a floor that is probably 40 years old.

today is kurt cobain’s birthday and also leah in texas

this is a picture of OJ in 1984, the summer i moved to LA

he is carrying the torch up The California Incline

i was there

it was a cool moment

and then incredibly cool and touching when he passed the torch to a kid with cancer

everyone cried because first we see big strong OJ

then we see this little kid who needed help to walk

but he did it.

this is one of my earliest memories of LA

and one of many many reasons i love it so.

OJ Simpson and the Olympic Torch, 1984

Because I’m a very old man, I was there. I had just moved to LA earlier that summer.

As you can see OJ ran up the California Incline to incredible fanfare. Everyone around him was cheering. OJ looked athletic and strong and people were clapping everywhere because, first of all, it’s a thrill to see the torch.

And also, at this point in his career, OJ was beloved by all.

This was pre Rodney King, pre A glove that didn’t fit, pre cops bungling crime scenes, pre slow Bronco chases that mysteriously didn’t make it into the Trial of the Century.

This was a moment where a former superstar who still looked like a pro, ran up a hill and everyone just watched. This was before cell phones.

Before the Interwebs.

It was during a time when you just soaked in the moment in front of you and felt it.

And when OJ reached Ocean Ave he slowed down and bent down and passed the torch to a disabled child

who then hobbled his way down the road.

The contrast in torch bearers was unreal. And beautiful.

And everyone began crying – for all the reasons.

Right there in 1980s Santa Monica.

It was probably the most beautiful moment of that Olympics for all 150 or so of us who witnessed it.

And I will never forget it.

mom, you shouldnt read this, trust me

today is the 22nd anniversary of OJs bronco chase which means 22(!) years ago i was roommates with todd francis on Folsom Street in Frisco when we saw the chase.

Todd had a great apartment which i think was like a guest house in the back of a regular house on Folsom and like 22nd if i remember correctly.

i had just been asked to transfer from LA to SF for Philips because they were about to introduce this thing called WebTV which connected your TV to the Internet and their guy in SF didn’t know anything about the web (who did 22 years ago?) and wasnt willing to learn.

so they made me the dude in charge of No Cal, which was fine with me because as much as i loved living in Atwater Village with Greg and Jeff, none of us were getting laid and they were pursing their musical careers and i was up for a change of scenery so why not.

Todd had an extra room for rent so why not. He was a great roommate, soooo funny, and he was a vegetarian so there were nights when omg i wouldnt eat any meat. trippy.

right away i started getting dates through AOL for some reason.

one of the first ones was this rich girl who was sorta seeing this guy whos dad owned a car dealership. beautiful asian girl. i wanna say her name was Candis. i was all, why are you breaking up with your dude. she said because he is so obsessed with money, he never pays any attention to me. i said send me a picture and it was like a put on, she was too beautiful. i was all. take a picture with todays news paper. she said i dont get the paper.

i said ok take a picture with your hat on backwards and standing on one leg. she did and i was all

lets go to the drive in, that way we can see a movie AND talk at the same time.

ok mom if youre still reading you really need to stop because its only gonna get worse.

ive been around the block a few times

LA Blogstock with Lindsayi know whats going down. i know why ive been sick for two months. i know why the caged bird sings.

i didnt know until this weekend, but i had an idea.

her name really isnt lindsay, its beautiful. shes not really from minnesota, shes from the xbi. and she knew that i knew and i knew that she knew that i knew, so we just played our roles of hunter and hunted and let her set the trap and i looked in her eyes as i fell in the hole.

the good thing about the agency is its relentless. the bad thing is its sloppy and obvious.

the genius about the xbi is they believe that if a neighborhood has some bad elements then what you do is open a 7-11 in the middle of the town square and sell gas a nickle cheaper than anywhere else. what you will get is peoples pin numbers, you’ll get their credit card numbers, you’ll get their eating habits, their license plate numbers, you’ll get their drivers liscense numbers and birthdates when you check their IDs, and if you put a pretty girl behind the counter in a low cut vest you’ll get their phone numbers.

their failure is they try this type of move in all of their plots. it’s like a curve ball pitcher throwing an overhand curve, a sidearmed curve, and a knucklecurve – the smart hitter just lays the bat on his shoulder and waits for the walk because it’s almost impossible to get three of those pitches over the plate out of seven.

so when the perfect woman stepped off the plane at LAX the other day and slipped into my car the only question was is she xbi or an xbi android, dont laugh, so as soon as we got home i called out all the safe words i knew to see if she’d shut down to no avail.

i waited all night to see if she’d strip, but she was on to me and played coy, so i played along with her.

i asked her a question and she answered correctly.

ever kiss a girl?
yup.
ever kiss two girls?
yup yup.
feel like kissing two girls right now?
sure, where they at?
wanna see how quickly i can unloose your brastrap lefthanded?
go for it.

i was very skeptical. were they trying to get my dna? were they trying to lure me back into the agency full time? were they trying to move me out of califonia? were they trying to kill me?

all the possibilities ran through my head as we fell asleep that first night. i couldnt sleep. we talked in the dark as the music played and i asked her a question and she didnt answer and i figured she had just fallen asleep but then i thought maybe shes listening to hq in her earpeice. i was so paranoid it was crazy. she had clearly planted bugs all through my apartment and car. was that her sole objective?

jeff kate emmaunelle mattwhat did she wear to sleep? a tight shirt and some booty shorts. she called them her pajamas. i told her it wasnt fair. what did i wear to bed? a tight shirt and some booty shorts. all the barfing ive done over the last two months has helped me lose my babyfat. and when i finally allowed myself to fall asleep i was prepared to never wake up again. which was fine. my life has been full. and if i was going to be chopped up or kidnapped or eaten or mutilated, there are worse ways to go than at the hands of the hottest xbi android ever created. with an ass like that.

before the sun rose i wanted to examine this xbi agent. everything was in order. i wanted to spend more time with this investigation but it was over much quicker than i would have liked.

what made me seriously doubt this “woman” were her answers. i would ask her if oj was guilty and she would say “no, there was no motive.” exactly my reasoning. i would ask her if she ever heard Tsar and she would say, “i have both of their records, i love them.” when i asked her how she heard of Tsar she would say, “from the busblog, my favorite blog.” everything was too good to be true.

id ask her if i could hold her hand, shed say yes. id ask her what she wanted to do, she’d say whatever you want to do tony. id say i wanna look at that fine ass and she’d twirl around and give me a good look. id say what do you wanna eat, and she’d say anywhere that you think is good. but this girl didnt come across as desperate or wanting or needy or crazed. or even a superfan of me or my blog, despite having read it since 2002, when she was 17(!) – she seemed like a quiet, confident, semi-brainiac who was once pre-med but now pre-law.

surely she was here for nefarious reasons.

and then i realized what had been going on for the last two months. those texas roller girls, thats when i had first gotten sick. they made out with me in the bathroom, at the same time. they had poisoned me. obviously. thats how the xbi got me when i was in college, this is how they were trying to get me now. those roller girls had something under their tounges, bit it and then had me swallow it, then they spit out the remainder in the sink as the other one got me with another dose.

then anna kournikova got me a few weeks later. same way. then that chilean girl got me with that “authentic” meal she had me eat. each time i was having the time of my life these “women” would put something in my body for the xbi to see how i’d react, to see if id die. to see how my blogging would progress. to see how my mind worked. to see if id crack. and now i see they did it so i would be so broken down that i would go to them for the syrum.

i know this because there were times this weekend where i thought i was going to die. i was right there. i was dizzy, i was disorientated, i was suicidal. there was a gorgeous girl in my bed who looked hot in any and all outfit that she was wearing but i was so weak i could barely float in the hot tub let alone live up to my reputation as an african american. if anything would make me want to jump off a bridge it was that. fortunately there aint no bridges in palm springs.

so in the california pizza kitchen on desert springs road i hurled for the fourth time that morning and what do we have here floating in the can – an xbi special – a tracking device disguised as a kidney bean. stupid fucks, i had helped them design that thing back in ’88! you cant throw a split fingered fastball to bruce sutter! first thing they tell you at the xbi is to barf if you feel sick so ive been hurling for two months. ive lost 15 pounds. and as soon as i got better i got sick again during or after a hot date.

Tommys_60th_Bday_is_today--large-msg-114773007861-2intentionally i didnt bring a date to coachella or kiss any girls there, but i was not thinking straight when two hippie chicks walked by with free samples of granola bars as i was headed to the sahara tent to see madonna. of course the xbi knew i loved granola bars and of course they knew i was gonna see madonna. and ask lizy i hurled in the side of the road on the 10 because those fuckers put way too much poison in the batch. stir it assholes! stir it!

so yesterday morning i left the motel room early as my date snoozed in our gigantic bed. i went over to the mall. it was 9am and only the anchor stores were open. but that was fine since everything i would need would be in sears. and i made what i had to make and i got back to the room, and she got dressed, we said our goodbyes to people, and we had lunch at the cpk and when i hurled the bug i put it in my ac/dc wristband. and slid it on.

then on our drive back to LA i leaned towards her and i whispered and apologized for my throat being so f’ed up because of my illness. she said she didnt mind. she didnt mind anything. only thing she didnt want to talk about was politics. why? probably because the xbi is mostly republicans and she was secretly pissed at the right for fucking up this good chance theyve had over the last 5 years. but she crossed her legs and suddenly i didnt want to talk about politics neither.

but i whispered. i told her she was amazing and perfect and whoever created her deserved a high five. then i did everything i could to make her blush but robots dont blush. then i quizzed her about baseball and basketball and she got every answer right because androids are made by men, duh. but then she saw a woman walking out of a bar and commented on her dolce shoes and i was all, huh, we got gay guys programming at the agency too?

still i whispered and put on howard stern but that didnt throw her she said she loved howard. so at that point i didnt care if i died or not. either i had met my match or i had met my future bride so i said everything you wouldnt say to someone who you wanted to have a future with, i said her first name and my last name, i said my first name and her last name, i asked her how many kids we would have, i asked her how many wives we would have. she didnt flinch once.

until we pulled over to pick up a guy stranded and walking to a call box. i parked about 20 yards ahead of him. i watched as he approached us. i asked her to roll down her window. when he came up to the car, as we had arranged, he looked down her shirt and then at her eyes and i asked him if he needed a ride to the gas station, and he said no, that he was just going to the call box, but thanks.

just like we planned.

for while he was talking to us and she was looking out of her window at him, i slipped my own kidney bean into her bag, so that when i dropped her off at LAX an hour later thru the tracking device i saw how she didnt fly to minnesota, but instead jetted to isla vista, home of the xbi, birthplace of the hottest android of all time, and the reason why ive been sick so long.

and who you should blame for this blog being down all weekend.

the finest lawyer to ever put on a ski cap in court

died today of an apparent brain tumor.

johnny cochrane was sixty eight years old and not nearly respected as he should have been for his defense of oj simpson.

some claimed that it was the jury, or the bungling by the defense, but in this age of CourtTV rarely a trial goes by where any mistake on either side isnt revelaed, but even with so many cooks in the kitchen one can’t find much fault with Cochrane’s defense of the Juice. some say it was perfect.

so to give the best tribute i can, i give you something i posted here last summer

top ten reasons why oj is not guilty

number ten: the columbian necktie.

it was no secret that over the last 6-8 months of her life, Nicole Brown Simpson spent more time with friends like Faye Resnick and others who were involved in the typical LA nightlife scene.

Some of those “friends” included drug dealers and hookers. Those associations, OJ claims was what led to the final 911 calls. He says he faught with Nicole because he didn’t want those type of people around his children.

Most of the stab wounds on both nicole brown and ron goldman were in and around the neck.

“Ms. Simpson’s head then was pulled back, perhaps by her blond hair, as the attacker slashed her throat from left to right. The neck position at the point of the cut can be determined by the fact that no blood flowed into her windpipe.

“The cut was vicious. The knife sliced through both carotid arteries – which provide blood to the brain – nearly cut through one jugular vein and left the second jugular vein dangling by a thread.

The cut was clean.” (USA Today, 10/18/96)

This is very similar to what the defense brought up to being the trademark fatal stab wound that is found on some victims of drug-related crimes. Specifically those where the victim owed money to a drug dealer.

The idea of the Columbian Necktie or Columbian Necklace came up several times in the OJ trial.

Mark Furhman was asked by F. Lee Bailey if he had ever heard of the Columbian Necktie

Q: NO. HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF A COLOMBIAN NECKLACE?

A: NO.

Q: YOU ARE HEARING THAT WORD FOR THE FIRST TIME TODAY?

A: NO. I KNOW WHAT A COLOMBIAN NECKTIE IS.

Q: COLOMBIAN NECKTIE. WHAT IS A COLOMBIAN NECKTIE, DETECTIVE FUHRMAN?

A: CUTTING SOMEBODY’S THROAT.

Q: DID YOU EVER HEAR IT CALLED A NECKLACE?

A: NO.

Q: THAT INCLUDES CUTTING THE THROAT SO SEVERELY THAT BOTH THE CAROTID ARTERIES ARE SEVERED, CORRECT?

A: I DON’T KNOW ABOUT THAT, BUT I JUST HEARD THE TERM.

Q: WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY ARE SEVERED? DO YOU KNOW FROM YOUR TRAINING?

A: WELL, THE PERSON WILL BLEED PROFUSELY AND DIE.

Q: THE BLOOD PRESSURE DROPS TO ZERO AND DEATH OCCURS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY; ISN’T THAT SO?

A: I WOULD ASSUME SO.

Q: IF YOUR THROAT IS CUT THAT SEVERELY WHILE YOU ARE STANDING AND SOMEBODY IS HOLDING YOUR HEAD, YOU WOULD BE DEAD BEFORE YOU HIT THE GROUND, WOULDN’T YOU?

A: (NO AUDIBLE RESPONSE.)

Q: IF YOU KNOW?

A: I WOULD HAVE TO SPECULATE. I COULDN’T TELL YOU THAT, SIR.

Say what you will about Simpson, who would want their kids around drugs, drug dealers, and prostitutes?

A: YES. (5/13/94)

Detective Tom Lange was asked by Johnnie Cochran about the Columbian necktie as well:

Q: WHAT IS A COLOMBIAN NECKTIE?

A: MY INFORMATION IS THAT IT IS A TIRE THAT WOULD BE PUT OVER SOMEONE’S NECK AND SET AFIRE.

Q: THAT IS A COLOMBIAN NECKTIE?

A: THAT IS WHAT I’VE HEARD. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THAT.

Q: HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF A COLOMBIAN NECKTIE BEING A SITUATION WHERE IN A DRUG —

MS. CLARK: ASSUMES FACTS NOT IN EVIDENCE.

MR. COCHRAN: I ASK THIS QUESTION, YOUR HONOR, AS AN EXPERT.

THE COURT: OVERRULED.

Q: BY MR. COCHRAN: HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF A COLOMBIAN NECKTIE BEING A SITUATION WHERE IN A DRUG KILLING A PERSON’S THROAT IS SLASHED AND THEIR TONGUE IS PULLED DOWN THROUGH WHERE THEIR — THROUGH THE NECK AREA? HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF THAT?

A: NO.

Q: ALL RIGHT. WHAT YOU TALKED ABOUT WAS A NECKTIE USED IN SOUTH AFRICA WHERE TIRES WERE PUT OVER —

A: I THOUGHT THAT IS WHAT YOU WERE REFERRING TO.

Q: WE ARE TALKING ABOUT COLOMBIA, NOT SOUTH AFRICA.

A: I DON’T KNOW WHERE THESE THINGS OCCUR. THE ONLY NECKTIE REFERENCE I’VE HEARD IS WITH A TIRE.

Q: YOU WERE THE DETECTIVE ON THE WONDERLAND CASE; IS THAT CORRECT?

A: THAT’S CORRECT.

Q: WAS THAT A DRUG CASE?

A: YES.(3/18/94)

the reason that the Columbian Necktie is important is it lends reasonable doubt that OJ might not have killed Nicole and Ron, that someone who actually had practice in killing people probably committed these murders. someone who knew how to kill someone within a minute’s time.

if we are to believe that OJ killed Nicole over a fit of rage, odds are he would have screamed out and slashed all over her body, not just at and around the neck.

also, the Columbian Necktie lends creedence to the theory that the Bronco Chase was a slow chase in order for OJ to hide from the killers by finding an creative way to surround himself with police.

the theory is that OJ knew that the killers wanted money from Nicole, and perhaps contacted him, and after he refused to pay they tried to get the money a final time from Nicole and ultimately killed her. and that’s why he always seems guilty. because in a way he sorta is. if he had only paid off her debt, she’d still be alive.

it also explains why he says he’s still mad at her.

Katie Couric: “Are you suggesting that Nicole was hanging out with the wrong crowd, and somehow someone in that crowd is responsible for her murder?”

OJ Simpson: “I’ve always said that. I made it as clear… that somewhere in Faye [Resnick’s] life, it’s happened before in Faye’s life. Same situation happened before in her life, and it happened again. Now you guys make it like, ‘OJ’s been hinting this, and hinting that.’ I don’t think anybody could be any clearer than me about the judgment, about paying the judgment. About why I think, and who I think was involved with her death, is this group of, I think, just horrible type people that she was hanging around with. People that not only did I not like, people her mother didn’t like. We talked about it often back then before her death. That we didn’t like this group of people that she was hanging around with.” (NBC, 6/6/04)

the one thing that i dont understand

about the oj trial is the motive.

why would oj simpson want to kill nicole, and thus kill any future that he might have?

back in those days black men werent getting off for murdering their xwives, even if they were innocent. so one would think that if oj was gonna kill her he would be just as well off taking a gun and killing her and then killing himself.

why would he use a knife, hide the bloody weapon, and his bloody clothes? black men dont get away with murder, why even try. especially in light of the previous domestic abuse situation?

but again, why would oj want to kill nicole? was it that passionate of a relationship? nope. they both called it rocky. he had been in a failed relationship once before. why didnt he kill that woman, why nicole? because she was a hot blonde? oj could walk down the street the night before the murders and would be able to pull any hot blonde he wanted.

the problem with the accusation of Crime of Passion is you have to somehow show that OJ was sooooo broken up with his divorce over nicole that he was willing to throw his whole life away and murder her, and it would help if you could somehow prove that the way that she was murdered was more in line with the slaying at the hands of an emotionally distraight spurned lover than from a professional killer.

the way that ron and nicole were killed, unfortunately for those who want to blame simpson, included cuts made by someone who not only knew where to cut, but were so deep and strong that they seemed not only professional but expert.

to me a crime of passion involves screaming and tears and slashes to non-fatal parts of the body like the nipples or vagina or eyes or mouth. none of that was ever presented in the grisley testimony. there were many stab wounds but most, on both victims, were intentional and logical. and these were done without any neighbors seeing or hearing shit.

keep in mind that early in the trial two of her neighbors admitted to calling the cops on OJ when he first visited Nicole. they noticed a large black man waiting around her front door and looking up into the window. nicole lived on a busy street in a townhouse type building where many families and couples lived right up next to each other. if neighbors saw OJ just hanging out there years ago, they certainly would have noticed him killing two people. and yet there were no witnesses alleging that either.

so again, why would oj want to kill nicole? the truth is, he wouldnt want to kill her.

after the 911 call all of the parties were interviewed by the police. nicole was asked if OJ had hit her, she said no. they asked if he had ever hit her. she said once. that was the one famous time we all know about on new years eve 89 because of the pictures, etc. but two years later they were divorced and she was never attacked by oj again.

not even the day of the 911 call when he found out that his kids were surrounded by drug dealers and hookers. he freaked out, yes. any good parent would. but there was no violence. there was only yelling, as there should be, and when the police took his statement they understood the commotion and let him go.

now, there are the drugs.

after oj and nicole divorced she became closer to her friend faye resnick than ever before. faye was someone so involved in drugs that she had been to rehab several times before, including the day before the murder. some say Resnick went to rehab that last time to hide out after working out a deal with officials to help them nab 386 kilos of cocaine in santa ana the day before the slayings.

but thats no reason to assume anything especially when so many people from Brentwood’s Mezzaluna were also dying for odd reasons. Nearly a year before Ron Goldman was stabbed to death his friend, Brett Cantor, was also killed in an oddly similar manner. meanwhile, fellow mezzaluna waiter Michael Nigg was shot in the head and killed, while yet another mezzaluna waiter barely survived a car bombing. yes a car bombing in LA.

all of this is spiraling around Nicole. why? was it her dirty best friend? was it her ties to Ron and Mezzaluna’s dead bodies? or was it her sister Denise Brown and her alleged relationship with exMafia turned FBI stoolie Tony “The Animal” Fiato who, although they may or may not have dated, were seen together on several occasions.

therefore, is it more likely that Nicole was professionally killed by someone in these violent circles of mafia figures, liars, drug dealers, thieves, and stool pigeons,

or is it more likely that a man who was banging a playmate suddenly realized that his heart was with his second ex-wife and because he could “never” have her back, he killed her?

its my opinion that OJ knew of these dark clouds surrounding his exwife which is why he always acts guilty and he knew of their threats and he knew he could have helped her pay the debts but made a stand and did not pay off that last debt, if indeed it was a murder over a debt.

some say it was Ron that the drug dealers were after, who followed him to Nicole’s house and it was Nicole who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

problem is, because the LAPD only suspected OJ and because they only followed that line of prosecution, we wont ever really know about ALL of the shadowy characters surrounding this tragic situation.

some may wonder where is all the negative energy surrounding Robert Blake’s aquittal. maybe its out retrieving its gun.

A: I COULDN’T TELL ANY OF THAT FROM THE SCENE.

Q: DID YOU MAKE ANY OBSERVATIONS?

A: I MADE NO DETAILED OBSERVATIONS THAT WOULD GIVE THAT INFORMATION.

Q: DID YOU DEDUCE, DETECTIVE FUHRMAN, FROM THE QUANTITY OF THE BLOOD SURROUNDING THE BODY OF THE FEMALE VICTIM, THAT SHE HAD BLED VERY PROFUSELY?

A: YES. I WOULD CONCLUDE THAT.

Q: AND COULD WELL HAVE SUFFERED A MASSIVE INJURY TO THE CAROTID ARTERIES IN THE NECK?

A: I COULDN’T ASSUME THAT.

Q: YOU COULDN’T?

A: NO.

Q: DID YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHERE ALL THAT BLOOD CAME FROM?

A: SOMEWHERE IN THE HEAD AREA, BUT I COULDN’T SEE HER FACE.

Q: BUT A MASSIVE INJURY OF SOME SORT?

A: YES, SIR.

Q: ONE THAT PROBABLY PRODUCED DEATH VERY QUICKLY, CORRECT?

A: YES.

Q: AND PROBABLY SHE HAD NEVER MOVED FROM THE POINT AT WHICH SHE FELL, FROM THE EVIDENCE THAT YOU SAW? A FAIR DEDUCTION?

A: YES. (5/13/94)

Detective Tom Lange was asked by Johnnie Cochran about the Columbian necktie as well:

Q: NOW, IN THIS — YOU DESCRIBED FOR US THAT BEFORE LUNCH ABOUT THESE DRUG KILLINGS AND YOU — I ASKED YOU SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS COLOMBIAN NECKLACE AND REMEMBER WE TALKED ABOUT THAT?

A: YES.

Q: DO YOU KNOW WHAT A COLOMBIAN NECKTIE IS?

A: YES, I’VE HEARD STORIES OF COLOMBIAN NECKTIES.

Katie Couric: Are you suggesting that Nicole was hanging out with the wrong crowd, and somehow someone in that crowd is responsible for her murder?

OJ Simpson: I’ve always said that. I made it as clear… that somewhere in Faye [Resnick’s] life, it’s happened before in Faye’s life. Same situation happened before in her life, and it happened again. Now you guys make it like, OJ’s been hinting this, and hinting that. I don’t think anybody could be any clearer than me about the judgment, about paying the judgment. About why I think, and who I think was involved with her death, is this group of, I think, just horrible type people that she was hanging around with. People that not only did I not like, people her mother didn’t like. We talked about it often back then before her death. That we didn’t like this group of people that she was hanging around with. (NBC, 6/6/04)
