it would have been nice to see john drury do this.

its raining (raining) its raining (raining) come into me
one of the more suprising things of the week happened in the comments blog. thats a blog that fleshes out and celebrates the comments on the news and blog posts left by our readers. our city desk blog la now has been covering the brown/rihanna story beautifully and while people have been flooding to that blog, theyve also been leaving comments. one of the trends that we saw were how many people were defending chris brown. so we posted some of their support (and some who thought they were crazy) on the comments blog. now that post is drawing even more support for chris brown. here are some from last night:
dang. people need to lay off chris. All thats goin around now is just rumors, all we know is it was just chris and rihanna involved. I mean damn, everybody is going crazy, not playing his music on the radio and stuff. They even took down a got milk poster of him in my school cafeteria. Such a good kid like chris with such a clean record obviously wouldnt do anything unless made really angry. And also, it could be pyscological retalitation from his childhood. I still love him and always will.

like jay z says men lie, woman lie and numbers don’t so chris brown you should prove them wrong that you are not what they think you are and you may move from that stage to another new life background………st.lucia say may you be reborn again under the foots of the backstabbers…

our all dumb. RIHANNA PROVOKED HIM. i think that if your
big and bad enough to dish it out, your big enough to take it.
she’s jealous and always has been. she wants you to believe
her so that chris’ career will be damaged. and your all falling for it.
just because she’s a woman, what a damn shame. quit going off
of one side of the story. he turned himself in CAUSE THAT WAS THE SMART THING TO DO. why run if you didnt do it? he did the right thing.
she’s a spoiled brat who has all of you wrapped around her damn finger.Posted by: whatever
backstreets back and its friday which means ask tony
and while you think of your pressing questions enjoy yr girl sass serenading you in all her pre-valentines day glory
today is jeanine’s birthday!
shes 24

born in the valley to a half black woman and an italian doctor (cheif of staff if you wanna be specific), jeanine bounced around various highfalutin private schools and somehow made her way to uc santa barbara.
destiny would greet her when she walked into the Daily Nexus. long haired and shy, jeanine filed stories for the County desk writing about downtown santa barbara politics, crime, and designer drugs. it wasnt until she began her series on the Isla Vista elementary school that your hero noticed her and approached her and asked her out for a date. there are no such things as dates in IV, however, just random hookups, but our birthday girl was a veeeergin at the time so the two drove down to the movie theatre and took in a film.
it was a horrible date that could have ended in all of our futures ending up quite differently. but there was something special about jeanine and your boy saw it, he didnt know what it was but it was oh so faintly twinkling behind all of that hair. there was a light in her dark brown eyes. there was a heart beating beneath all of those clothes. so he asked her out for another date, this time the neverending story part two.
horrible movie, horrible date. so they decided to be “just friends”.
one rainy afternoon, quite like today, jeanine was invited over to give the author “guitar lessons”. once the small talk dissipated and the guitars were whipped out jeanines special purpose was spotted. she could sing! and man could she play that guitar. everything that she had been repressing and holding back and concealing and selfishing was out in the open.
and being a college boy all your hero wanted to do with it all was get in there and investigate it. so a fourth date was demanded. intoxicants were rushed into her bloodstream. fluids were exchanged. lives were changed and out came eight underweight babies. the end. not really. jeanine and tony lived together for two years in isla vista. they shared two iguanas. found themselves in three apartments. were shunned by her family. and were so in love that nothing could separate them.
eventually it became obvious that tony was boring and prague was not and jeanine jetted off to the land of fifty cent beers and fifty dollar rents and sad poetry followed including this one, one of the worlds favorites called “oj and courtney and everyone but you”:
i writer everyday
and ask her to come back

whats wrong with this picture?

lovely sarah made me and ali go to mcdonalds yesterday

usually id be all for the golden arches but im trying to get in shape for bikini season which is fast approaching.
this particular mcdonalds is totally ghetto which tells you a little about our neighborhood as our office is only about three blocks north from said fast food eatery. it also tells you something about LA because city hall is just one block north of us.
so yes, four blocks from city hall is a mcdonalds that smells like pee and trash and old people and homeless and jobless and sadness and filth and despair bordering on surrender.
and the french fry oil hadnt been changed in at least a day, or so it tasted.
of course no bathrooms. of course old guys reading the paper slowly falling asleep at 1pm. of course whole families just biding their time with their luggage. of course no McPlayland. of course a security guard next to the registers. of course a pube (or was it an eyelash) was spotted in ali’s McSalad.
of course i almost ate all of my crappy fries. of course i noticed all the mayo in my grilled chicken breast sandwich.
of course the elderly couple midway through their meal introduced an aroma that could only be the extra value combo of human waste + adult diaper + ice tea.
of course we will be back.

just like you, im a huge fan of Howard Stern

so much so i bought some Sirius stock right before they merged because when it was barely below a buck i thought “How Much Lower Could It Possibly Go???”
famous last words.
c-net thinks Howard Stern should buy the company.
No matter how you look at it, Sirius XM Satellite Radio is in sad shape. The stock has been stuck around 11 cents for months, and now there’s talk about bankruptcy.
I don’t get it, the satellite company claims 19 million subscribers, and if they were paying the same rate as I do, $12.95 a month, that works out to close to $3 billion a year in income. They also have ads on all the nonmusic channels, which have to be generating income as well. Oh, wouldn’t you think the ads on Howard Stern’s show make a load of dough for Sirius XM?
I’ve heard that EchoStar, a maker of TV set-top boxes, is trying to take over the company. but Sirius XM is holding tight.
So if Howard Stern loves Sirius XM so much, why doesn’t he buy it?
strangely at five cents a share im tempted to get a couple hundred bucks worth and try to double my money if it makes it back to the 13 cents that it was last week.
octuplet fever has hit southern california

and best of all is now the Oct Mom now has a website built so she can get money from kind souls who want to donate to her family of 14 kids, two who are handicapable.
one of our best columnists Tim Rutten lets her have it in a piece today, which begins thusly:
These are somber and sobering times, but they may offer us the opportunity to reexamine not only the material extravagance that has characterized so much of our recent life, but also some of its emotional excesses.
Take, for example, the grotesque story of Nadya Suleman, the sad and disturbing serial mom whose apparent addiction to childbirth recently resulted in the delivery of octuplets. That brought the 33-year-old, unemployed single mother’s “family” to 14 — including a set of twins — all conceived through in vitro fertilization, all reportedly at the same Beverly Hills fertility clinic.
As one detail concerning this bizarre sequence piles on another, this strange young woman’s odd story seems to be moving out of the freak show that nowadays passes for far too much of our news and into the realm where serious — rather than merely prurient — thoughts occur.
The treatments Suleman underwent to bear her children aren’t cheap; they typically run from $8,000 to $15,000. Let’s assume, for the sake of argument, that her doctor gave her the lower rate (as a volume discount), which would put her expenses, simply for conception, at $48,000. Suleman told a television interviewer that she covered those costs out of a $165,000 disability settlement she obtained after suffering a back injury working at a state mental hospital.
She also said she is not “on welfare,” which is a bit of a semantic dodge, because it turns out she’s receiving both food stamps and Social Security payments for two of her children who suffer from unspecified disabilities. She also told the interviewer she plans to “support” her family with federally guaranteed student loans while she pursues a master’s in counseling. (One tries to imagine receiving therapy from this woman, but the mind refuses to form the requisite image.)
needless to say, the octobabies, chris brown, the slow bentley car chase, and numerous murders have set our LA Now blog on fire and im sure its helping other local blogs like LAist too. thanks octomom!
what do you notice in these two photos?

reason finds out how horrible mccain would have been
well, they find out how uninspiring to the youth the war hero would have been.
of course those sampled are in DC throwing shoes at a blow up Bush doll.
that added up to this
