“On Monday we didn’t make a peso”

at the Times we have the benefit of having writers and photographers and bloggers all around the world. one of our coolest bloggers, Deborah Bonello, writes from Mexico on our Latin American blog La Plaza.

Today she posted this interesting video from Mexico City, where she lives, about how the Swine Flu is affecting restaurants in the capital city.

five… five… five dolla… five dolla foot looooooongs

no, nutritionist, that is not my bacon lettuce and bacon subway

but i wish it were.

if i didnt have to worry about my belly becoming three times the size of france i would have asked for a little more bacon on the side.

instead i got what i always get, which is a meal i wish they’d call The Busblog.

why? because it’s a footlong on 7 grain wheat bread, with two chicken breasts, avacado, lettuce, and a nice squirt of Chipotle sauce.

but the best part is the price:

$5 (after the discount) plus $1.20 for the avacado

after tax: $6.66

and its good for you!

this has been the craziest month

and it keeps getting crazy.

this is a picture i took when our national reporters were all gathered here in LA for one of their annual meetings. in this meeting a few of us from the web staff sat at the mouth of the horseshoe of reporters and answered questions they had for us about blogging, twitter, facebook, etc.

it was like one of those federal interrogations minus the waterboarding, and far more delicious muffins. (nothing in here about muffins is true, nutritionist.)

they grilled me with some really good questions about the value of blogging today and how we as an organization will make money from all of these newfangled thingamabobs and whenever i got nervous or a little sweaty under the collar, i just focused on that incredible view of city hall and retreated to my special happy place in my head and became instantly relaxed.

yesterday was so crazy anna kournikova herself texted me to tell me she was thinking of me. and when i texted back awwwww she texted back jk with a smiley face.

the only problem with college girls is they like american idol

got suckered into dinner drinks rock not long ago and tonight i found myself watching idol on tivo.

youve gotta check out danny gokey she says.

surely you have an older sister, i say.

but if you met her shed start talking again and youd smile n nod just like me and end up watching not just one episode but two because tonights the night they vote off someone and she wants to see last nights show again cuz it was omgsooooogoooood.

im like, how good could it be?

and shes like, after its over i’ll do whatever you want.

little did she imagine that i wanted a complete thanksgiving dinner or a mani/pedi

and little did i imagine that id actually enjoy the first night. alot.

adam lambert should just be given the trophy the roses and the sash cuz hes miss world for sure.

over the air tv, isnt worthy of that craziness above in that video.

completely unrelated to the post below,

and yet completely related. someone you know is preggers

a hint:

Xander has also been really cute, he definitely sensed something even before we did. He’s been much more affectionate than normal, and sleeps on my pillow or by my belly. Even when I’m on the couch, he often sits on it right above me! I’ve been calling him my Little Guardian, it’s just so cute. Cordy is spastic & clueless however, haha.

astrologically something must be going on

im not saying something is going on in a bad way, although i am very happy to see april on the way out. but something weird is happening.

i definitely need to play the lottery. or go to vegas this weekend. or do something so that the weirdness gets turned into something quantifiable and good.

my nutritionist has me eating oatmeal whenever i want chocolate. and it seems like i always want chocolate right before i go to sleep. so at 1am last night i got out of my warm bed and walked into the kitchen to make some oatmeal. but all i had was low sugar oatmeal.

and i thought who on earth bought that?

i really dont have that many houseguests but the ones i have always make little comments – usually of jealousy. like “omg whose hair is this in the shower?” or “when are you ever going to move?” or “since when do you eat strawberries?”

these are all from women commenting, they think, on other women. but the truth is, i am only with the one because the other wont come over regularly enough, or play all these crazy games once they’re there.

im 102 years old. do they really expect me to work, come home, and stare at a wall all night while writing love poems about them in one of my secret blawwwgs?

as if.

yes it is a little odd for a bald man to have long blond hairs in his shower.

but seriously, what isnt odd these days.
