bob dylan is playing a three night stand at the hollywood palladium

i think this might have to be one of those jeanine + chris + busblog triple dates

also today is no service fee wednesday

dylan is currently on tour with john mellencamp and willie nelson as the trio play minor league baseball parks after the game.

theres also talk that voice of yr generation is about to bust with a christmas album in a few months.

best part about christmas albums? rarely do you have to pay out publishing cuz Santa wrote most of songs.

i ran xtra far tonight. and fast.

its nice if you can tell the xbi that youre too out of shape to get recruited

but its also nice to be there, in case of emergency.

i remember credit cards and cell phones being owned for that reason

in case of emergency.

yet today i looked at my iphone and it was pretty much the only thing that truly belongs in the twenty first century.

its like the future saying hi past.

today i was at the gas station and the dude on the other side of the island was filling up a 2010 camaro.

my car!

this guys was gray, i would have black, but all i could do was stare at it and ask how do you like it?

he beamed.

that car is the futures version of the past.

saw four hookers on the way back.

one of my all time favorite bloggers, andy malcolm

of the top of the ticket blog is on vacation this week so i promised to chip in while he is away

today i chose to comment on the creepy Joker posters that allegedly are all over LA.

i say allegedly because ive only seen them “in the media” and not on the streets of my beloved city.

anyways i gave the artist a hat tip for thinking it up and for getting everyone to look, but then i had to put on my critic hat and examine whether or not painting obama to look like one of the smartest, and charismatic villains was really such a bright move.

check it out here on the Top of the Ticket, one of the three Technorati Top 100 blogs LA Times

karisa invited me to go to the fantasy factory

taylor swift at whole foodson friday and it was sponsored by Monster energy and it was the x games post party

so i said fine.

then i thought better for it all.

she told me she had two single gfs who loved the books i had written. turned out karisa has them laying around her home. not the girls, the books.

but the problem was they were both asian. now i like asian girls as much as the next guy, maybe more. but the last two girls i was serious about (or leaning on being serious) were both korean. which is asian. and both of those deals went horribly wrong.

i am still probably a little scarred.

and scurred.

so i didnt go. instead i hung around the rooftop hot tub of my bud and stared off into the deepest darkest night.

just then a little voice whispered in my beer. or ear. or bear.

“your man bruce springsteen is playing in your old home town on your mamas birthday.”

sweet home chicago?

“yes! and you should go.”

but my momma doesnt love bruuuuuuce

“yes but that minnesota girl does. and best of all, she now lives an hour away from chicago.”

the little voice was not only all-knowing, but super chatty. wth!

still i was undecided.

“bruce is playing Born to Run in its entirety on that night. take the poor girl. and lose some weight.”

and after an email, i had a date.

Matt Welch:

What’s the best way to commemorate your longtime friend on the other coast turning 41 years young?

Gage: 1. How will I know if he really loves me? 2. Who made who? 3. Are you gonna go my way?

1. he’ll let you vacation in hollywood, no strings attached. 2. robert johnson, johnnie johnson 3. if your way is hawaii or vegas, then hell yes.

BobD: What Would Ivan DeJesus Do?

probably ground out to third. BUT HE’D RUN IT OUT!

zona: I have a dilemma. I seem to have lost my wallet. The last time I recall seeing it was near the Thai restaurant where we had dinner. If you could possibly find a girl named Baby who is wearing cutoff jeans and pink stilettos. There’s no money left in my account and the credit cards are max’d out. I can get my driver’s license and govt credentials replaced. I can get new pictures of the wife and kids but what I REALLY need out of my wallet is a piece of paper on which a stripper in Vegas wrote her home phone number. I think she really digs me. Can you be a real pal and see if you can track Baby down and get that piece of paper for me? Thanks bro. I’ll owe you big time.

sorry, what gets pickpocketed in Hollywood, stays in Hollywood. moose out front shoulda told you so. ps. (323) 467-4466

Alyson: Is it true that girls who drive standard are hotter than girls who don’t?

i like girls who dont. i like girls who sit in the passenger side and navigate and propagate and fill me in on everything ive been missing out on.

Steven Allen Adams: Happy birthday Matt! What is the worst break-up you’ve had?

all the breakups ive had have been pretty devastating, if not totally devistating. which is probably one reason i havent rushed into any serious relationships in quite a while.

rl: I’ll be driving down the coast in August, any suggestions on places to stop/see/things to do? Thank you!

everyone should visit Compton, Beverly Hills, and Skid Row when they come to LA. if anything to realize how close they are while being worlds apart.

john wayne maioriello: 1. i know you’re a super blogger.com loyalist and all that… but have you considered giving the busblog a testdrive within the wordpress platform? 2. what’s with the times and the register merging or teaming up… How does that work? 3. what’s buzznet’s deal lately? 4.will you upload a drawing you made? i wanna see your art skillz. my rules are it has to be a portrait of someone and it has to be in ball point pen.

1. for a brief but wonderful time i was blogging with Matt Good and Theron Parlin on ThoughtMechanics, which is a wordpress blog. also the LAT travel blog, the daily deal, is a wordpress blog. i really like that platform and it has a lot of features that you dont have on blogger. but im a super loyal person and ive always wanted to prove that to be a successful blogger you dont need incredible design, lots of bells and whistles, or a blogging platform that cost money. so ive always stayed with blogger for the busblog.

2. the ocregister says they’ll save at least a million dollars a year by paying us to deliver their paper. and we’re stoked to have some more cashflow, so its one of those rare win-wins.

3. as long as theyve got breesays and panasonicyouth then im good.

4. i’ll hook you up later this week cuz i have to buy a mattress. in the meantime heres something i drew when i was a lad, then xeroxed, then added some color because it was the 80s.

Liana: In your opinion, what came first, the chicken or the egg? Please know that your answer will reveal alot about your beliefs. Also, I need to hire a Taco Truck in Palm Springs! How does one go about findings those things in advance? They don’t have websites!

as a born again Christian i believe that the animals were created and then adam and God named em all, and then the eggs came out. it was all pre-Eve which is probably why animals have crazy names. like chicken. as for taco trucks in palm springs – i bet you are having problems finding such things because after they chased off wild teen spring breaks in the desert they pretty much sent the message to any and all that things like taco trucks were probably not going to be welcomed either. so i agree with this three year old chowhound recommendation that asks almost the identical question, whose answer is to get a nice truck from the IE to drive out there instead of one from say Echo Park.

timmay!!!!!: canseco says a current hall of famer was using assteroids … who do you think it was?

Bowie Kuhn. obvs.

jackassjimmy: Take a part or full time job in addition to the full time I have, while I finish school… or be dirt ass broke and possibly miss out on the woman of my dreams? Cheers, JJ

money is overrated, so is a college education, and working two jobs. women will break yr heart, bankrupt you, and lead you to bad decisions, but the stories you can tell afterwards are forever.

g/d: painting sculpture scripture =

First King’s 5 – the way the bible describes the artistry of Solomon’s various architectural masterpieces is more flowery and awe-inspired than any description of the creation of anything else. an excerpt:

23 Then he made the sea of cast metal. It was round, ten cubits from brim to brim, and five cubits high, and a line of thirty cubits measured its circumference. 24 Under its brim were gourds, for ten cubits, compassing the sea all around. The gourds were in two rows, cast with it when it was cast. 25 It stood on twelve oxen, three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east. The sea was set on them, and all their rear parts were inward. 26 Its thickness was a handbreadth, and its brim was made like the brim of a cup, like the flower of a lily. It held two thousand baths.

katherine: 1. what’s your favorite pick-up line? 2. Who’s sweating most bullets at prospect of all 103 steroid names being made public by MLB?

1. i love your photo essays. 2. nike.
