like i said, last night Da Bears ended their season.

superstar wide receiver Devin Hester ended his innocence.

his tailback, one could say, was caught off sides.

some of it xbi related which we will get to later when i answer the ask tony questions.

part of the crazy weekend involved seeing Precious with karisa at the Grove.

the Grove is a strange “mall” in the heart of LA. it’s really a lot like Disneyland and movie stars shop there sotherefore tourists and paparazzi are there, but i like the Grove for the Farmers Market which is super old school and dates back all the way to the 30s of LA.

the Grove is usually a pretty horrible place for guys like me to shop because they dont have a lot of stores for men, its typically very crowded because its super popular, and there are also lots of children that tend to get stepped on.

but i love the movie theatre there and like i said, the food. so karisa forced me to read Push by sapphire so we could see the film. karisa reads a ton, but she doesnt see many movies. at theatres. me, i see lots of films, but i dont read lots of books.

anyways the book was pretty good. the movie was pretty bad (if you read the book), but the conversation that karisa and i had after the film about the book and its treatment was great. in a way it helped us appreciate the movie more because in some ways the movie patched up some of the rough spots of the book. unfortch it also glossed over some of the more interesting parts of said novel.

we ate crepes while thousands of people gathered for the Lighting of the Tree.

Lonestar, Sean Paul, and I think the Pope were all going to perform. needless to say parking was crazy and the little children underfoot was a-plenty.

at the movies, there were even more children. apparently there was a film called Twilight that got everyone to rush to the movies to see, and who knew thered be little little kids for that?

i expected teens and tweens but not elementary kids with their moms.

afterwards i ran around my neighborhood and passed out in a sweaty heap and watched the bears end their season.

sadly i am rarely so prepared.

how is it friday already? where does time go? was this a short week for you too? its crazy.

today i think im going to the horse track after work. tomorrow i think im going to a birthday party. and sunday i think im seeing a movie.

last night i ran about 4 miles. and what i loved about it was i tried this new iPhone app (whose name escapes me right now) that told me i ran 3.88 miles, at 4 mph. is that good? i also did it in 52 minutes. that cant be good.

but the best part was it showed me on a Google Map where i ran.

so many people are all, damn i wish i lived in the 50s or damn i wish i lived in the 1800s.

i am so glad i live right now, and im this age, and im doing this thing.

right down to – im so grateful that i get to write this post to all of you right now today on a friday morning before work.

until about two hours after lunch.

funny how things work out that way.

and yet for some reason it just made me want to see this even more.

a quarter century down the tubes

jk. ali is a great friend who i miss very much because she now works on the wesssside and i dont get to see her smiling face every day when she used to work with me here at the Times.

i first met Ali at a bbq i was hosting for LAist. she was a new blogger for us and when she got to the bbq i believe she had a crop top shirt on and i was all, i think you want the party across the street.

she said tony? i said yes? she said im ali. i was all omfg.

ali and i have seen some pretty cool shows together. weezer, soul asylum, jayz + eminem. so fun!

ali and sarah and i used to go to lunch all the time together, and i miss that

but what i will really be sad about is if ali gets her dream job overseas which obvs we want her to have but secretly we will miss her long time.

but tonight we can celebrate her birth.

with drink.

and lovely thoughts.

i cant say every tune is this unique and upbeat and spirited

infact most of the album dylan croaks his way through a standard and youre all yeah but this is better than any other crappy christmas record this year

but this tune is a definate stand out, and im glad they made a funny video out of it.
