bob and i drove around hollywood

yesterday, taking in the sights. it was very nice.

a cuban beauty met us at the beverly center for pf changs but before we got there i was spotted on rodeo drive.

a polite cyclist saw me in the passenger’s side and said, tony pierce?

we conversed at the stop light and afterwards bob said, getting recognized on rodeo drive in beverly hills by adoring fans, tell me more about this blogging.

i’ll tell you about it. i’ll tell you that its 10:22am sunday morning and my computer is still in the shop and im typing to you from an internet cafe.

if bob only knew that the cyclist was a friend of karisas and not an adorning fan, however the fans represented yesterday via my po box.

someone sent me windows xp and an awesome ep of one of their friends’ band, one dude sent me some cubs baseball cards from the early 70s, and one dude copy and pasted all these semi-published and unpublished jd salinger stories grabbed some pictures of karisa and created a one-off book using the printers at the copy shop that he works at and mailed me a book called “twenty stories.”

amazing.

last night i was up till 4am reading it. reading is a lost art in my house when the computer is present. im totally addicted. clipper girls cousin is quitting smoking cigarettes and talks about how hard it is. i cant imagine trying to quit the computer. even when i had carpal tunnel it was hard to slow down, though i did.

also in the mailbox were a boatload of matthew good cds. i never had heard his music and emailed his record label to inquire which ones i should consider and they sent me the whole catalogue. expect reviews shortly. but upon first listen of the latest cd i hear a whisper of matthew sweet, but harder edged. which is nice. sweet always seemed to be whining about something.

its gorgeous here in hollywood. seventies? perfect weather for watching snow-covered football fields.

i hope your favorite team wins.

unless youre from new england.

🙂

was i sleep deprived or was snl not so shitty last night? afterwards i got a super late night tap at the door and it was the academy who had forgotten to send me films to consider for the oscars.

tonight’s screening was james l. brooks’s Spanglish starring adam sandler and a penelope cruise lookalike.

the first 2/3rds of the movie was really great. but then tia leone got on my nerves and the plot fell apart.

my biggest problem was that all of the characters were so flat. people were just so extreme. the crazy people were super crazy and the angels were angels. james l should know better than that. and im now officially sick of adam sandler being anything other than obnoxious or stony.

just because he could pull off being perfect and charming in the wedding singer doesnt mean that you need to keep doing it in mr deeds, 50 first dates, and now spanglish. bring back the edge.

ban sidhe + radical georgia moderate + flagrant should start an s&l

she said, what you have to do tony is find three projects

Hollywoodland that you can do. for ten thousand dollars each. i liked her ideas. she believed in me. i didnt know why. all i ever did around her was write poems in the ads of magazines and drink rum. she was playing with the wax that dripped down the tall skinny candle. she popped her gum when she chewed it.

i was all i cant live on thirty grand in hollywood.

she said quit eating out so much and buying all those baseball cards.

i could hear celebrities uncensored in the next room on the big tv. they said the name of the guy she used to date and she froze in order to hear better.

the new air, talkie walkies, was on the boom box. only peice of sony i ownie.

one of those sports boomboxes with extra tough plastic around everything which is good cuz im hard on things.

sony needs to make a sports

car.

super tough, yellow, indestructable, and who cares if it gets dinged.

id buy the sony sportscar.

but id also want a sony mp3 playing cd player in that bad boy.

and she said, see, that idea is worth ten grand.

and then we made lust like seals.

flagrant is awesome, i would be her publicist

dear readers of the busblog,

happy valentines day.

i hope that this day brings you love and happiness and sexiness and smiles. for thats what each of you bring to me every day.

some of you comment. thats nice. some of you write. thats nice. some of you take off your clothes for me and send me the pictures. sometimes thats nice.

some of you have started to write for Lick. that might be the nicest thing of all.

some of you give me money or bid on my auctions or buy my crap. thats unbelieveable.

and then some of you, better still, come over to my house and do some of the most amazing things. thats, well, bizzare. i dont understand any of that one bit. but i love it, and im grateful.

love is all around. and for that im also grateful.

i love living in LA i love living in hollywood i love living near my friends and in the warmth and minutes away from two terribly gorgeous exgirlfriends who continue to love me in ways no one including me can fathom.

i love living in the town that tsar built. punk rock has its own standards of success. no one could refute the sex pistols being successful despite only having one album and one us tour. tsars new record comes out very soon and it’ll be interesting if their label does a better job with hyping that record better than they’re hyping labelmates the polyphonic spree who are also creative and poppy.

i love being able to get away with murder in just about every aspect of my life except my career.

i love the people who i work with and my view of los angeles.

i love that ive been able to make out with the hottest girls in town.

i love that ive been able to pull off this no car thing.

i love the internet and its free porn and music and movies. thank you mr. gore. yes, this does make up for tipper.

i love you dsl i love you direct tv and tivo for you i must thank the Lord above. thank You thank You thank You.

i want to thank the good people of Captain Morgan’s for keeping me stocked up with that spiced shit, i love you all.

i love the wacky kids at Blogger slash Google who made all of this possible. some say the blogging revolution was inevitable and i call bs on that. a Lot of things pre-dated blogging including full blown web sites. but there was something missing in Live Journal and Open Diary and Geocities and aol and message boards and yahoo groups. blogger nailed it, made it easy, were able to handle the periods of success and not implode like whats happening over at friendster. i love what theyve created and im indebted.

i love ebay and paypal and hugh hefner for showing us how its done and i love the ghost of charles bukowski who haunts what is now known as little armenia.

i love herbal remedies, the woman who makes the tom kha kai at palms thai, the old man who tells me dirty jokes in the morning at the xbi gift shop when i get my oj and bagel.

i love howard stern.

i love my true love.

and i love my mom.

happy valentines day america,

tony

a heavy butterscotch moon

which became safari sam's

hung over the ghetto of east hollywood tonight as i drove to the jack in the box to get miss montreal her number four plain.

she hadnt seen my shaved head yet and i was secretly hoping that she was going to take me up on my little dare but life is never as good as what you dream about on blogs and she just wanted to say hi and hang out and drink and kiss a little and watch average joe and smoke some of her wacky tabbacky. she kept offering it to me and it smelled good but nah. dope is fer dopes. hugs not drugs i told her and snuggled up againster as we watched the hottie weed through the men who wished to woo her.

i do have a good life and i realized this on vermont where there appeared to be a crushing use of force between a metro bus and a two door hatchback and im not usually a lookie loo but i saw a man on the pavement surrounded by paramedics totally passed out and naked. i surmised that his clothes had been cut off of him so the doctors could get at whatever they needed to get at.

and let me tell you a thing or two about pavement. back in the olden days when i went to college i was a skater. i skateboarded everywhere and every now and then i would hit an acorn or find a rut in the sidewalk or hit a wet spot and begin to soar through the air with the greatest of ease.

of the many lessons that i learned at the university of isla vista was that road and skin should never rub against each other with any real force. the skin just rips so easilly as if by being alive and young we are simply marinating our fragile flesh.

so i saw this guy face down naked middle of the street etc and i thought whats stopping me from being that guy. i walk around not giving a fuck. i fly around in a damn copter. i get shot at by assholes daily. who’s to say that one day that might not be me. and then i thought i know whos to say and i better get right with him or im fucked.

came home and i called my mom and told her i loved her.

hung up and then i told the girl that i was happy she was here.

and then she attempted to suck the life out of me.

then she got pretty close but not really that close cuz im a freak of nature so we adjourned to my chambers and we gave the walls something to wish they could talk about.

thats for damn sure.

then she shaved the five oclock shadow from my head and asked me if i knew how ridiculously adorable i looked which is a very nice thing to say even if its just to be nice

while the saggy moon resisted its inevitable nightly assention into the heavens cuz usually its better in hollywood.

mr sutter has an funny quiz + kevin cole calls my afro auction genius + britcoal lays it out

this is me

pry it from the fingers

i hate life. i hate everything. hi.

a hot chick is gonna take me to do laundry with her, so thats cool. but if the earth opened up here in hollywood and sucked this godforsaken building down i would only be sorry for the people who discover chopper one because once they put it back together it will be a shock to them that mankind could create a machine so good while turning their backs on other machinery that could do things like, oh, say, feed starving people or find water in desert areas.

which they could, of course. if there was a way to make money off the poor.

instead they built this beast to keep the madding crowds in line and to steal from the rich and spy on the thieves.

the clouds are beautiful today. the sun in shining. the air is crisp. the girls are wearing cute little scarves and ugg boots. their flowers are wilting in their button holes their dreams havent been crushed yet like mine have, their boyfriends havent been found out yet and their daddys still pay for their miatas.

but one day they will look in the mirror and see what i just saw: the cold hard truth.

bitter bubbles the babbling brook of broken backs on which this “fair” city was born.

and fie on the fucks who stir its broth for the unsuspecting.

man walked into a bar last night as i was paying my tab and asked me if i had a few minutes to listen to his pitch and i said i have all the time in the world as long as he was talking about jesus

he said he had something better to talk about than the lord

i said youve got something better than everlasting life

he said you really want this to last forever

so i sat down and got the tab open again.

turned out he just wanted to have someone to talk to until the rain ended.

i made him pay for my baileys and i told the fuck to get a blog next time.

tsar came down from the heavens last night in eastern hollywood

tsar live to deliver the good news and layeth the smackdown and they cranked their shit to eleven and pretty much busted the eardrums of anyone within the first fifty rows and i just stood there like heston infront of the burning bush turning grey overnight and i have seen the light and its letters flash t s a r, for the big bad wolf is knocking at your door modern rock alternative radio and he has dyed his hair shit brown and hes coming for whats his and you better give it up or he’ll spin that fckr to twelve.

opening up for the epoxies and the starlight vocal band, tsar did rock and roll a favor last night by being the last minute replacements and sacrificing their good names by accepting the 9:30p chump openers role. didnt matter, they still blew the lights out. they still kicked ass and took names. they still passed the dutchee on the left hand side, wild eyed and crazy like maidens eddie, they still gave us our what for, they still didnt ask for an encore and were pleaded to give one but refused cuz theyre punk rock and powerful and tight like a youknowwhat and meaty like a hamhat.

defying all possible sensibilities and laws of gravity, tsar blasted through their newest material so as to beat it into our collective unconsiousness, hardly taking a break to chew ones curd, the brunette lead singer songwriter flopped around the stage cocksure and righteous pissed at the world for what it hadnt done for it and poised to take what is owed to them so lock up the lockers and lay down the liars cuz justice isnt blind, its bitter and it has a message from another time and it wont be brought to you by budweiser.

despite talking hella shit about weezer back in the day, tsar apparently got hollywood records (disney) to break open the marketing department vault and spend a little money (little being the key word) on some weezer-esque lights (pictured) which may or may not have blown out the stage lights of the sparse spaceland stage and which may or may not have been made on the floor of the tsar practice room with construction paper, spraypaint, and ninety nine cent store lightbulbs.

long live the mouse.

and my ears are still ringing and its almost lunch time. and my hearts still exploding and its months till the cd drops. and if you dont see these masters of the the midway within these next six weeks in hollywood as they get their shit together before going on their world tour then you really dont love rock music. its time to stare into the sun, friends. and this is the music you’ll melt to.

people mistake me for ll cool j all the time.

tyler but only when i take off my shirt.

some hot chick is sending me letter after letter.

each letter has a square of a picture in it.

eventually i will have the entire photograph and because im a man im hoping its a wonderful nude.

although with my luck it will probably be a still life of a fern.

bus came on time, train came on time. woman had a little kid with her. he started crying and she pantomimed punching him in the face.

he cooed.

when i got on the second bus i saw a different woman holding a baby. next to her was a little girl who must have been 6 years old. she was carrying the babies diaper bag.

the baby was being held in the mommas arms in a sheet. looking freshly stolen.

no stroller. no clothes bag. no bottle.

the little girl seemed perfectly fine at 8 in the morning holding the diaper bag getting off the bus and crossing the street with her mom who couldnt hold her hand because she had both hands on the infant.

get used to it little girl, i wanted to tell her.

but i dont speak spanish.

saw her staring at me though through the scratchy plastic bus windown, etched at by gangmembers

she probably thought i was ll.

she probably thinks a lot of things.

i wondered if the real ll cool j had problems that i did.
