today is danielle’s birthday, shes 24

here’s whats sad about this day. i think it’s been more than a year since ive seen My Love.

it’s been so long that the place where we met, where this beautiful photo of her was captured, is no longer there.

danielle and i met at E! which is no longer at 5750 Wilshire. the halls where she once skipped are occupied by another.

this is what happens when you move to san dieger, LA gets sad and tries to move on, but it never does.

the irony is danielle left to study french film and now im the one in the heart of cinema. im the one driving up and down hills of pacific palisades watching the sunset, sighing, wondering if danielle is seeing the same colors

breathing the same breezes

chasing the same sea gulls.

for those of you who miss her blog, danielle is still living large with her doctor beau. she is still as stylish as ever and she still has exquisite taste. during the summer Amber needed a place to Air BnB down in san diego and i inquired from danielle if she would rent out her pad for the weekend. she said she would let Amber stay there for freeee. which is the right price.

when amber got there she called me and said danielles place is phenomenal. everything here is beautiful and girly and classy and just right. it’s a dream inside of a wish.

which is the perfect way to describe todays birthday girl herself.

danielle in san diego asks

my love,

Why do churches have so many white vans? What are they for? Why white and completely non descript.

It’s suspect.

To say the least.

lovely danielle,

theres an office building on sunset near the beverly hills line in west hollywood. it overlooks bootsy bellows.

i got a ping today and the passenger was in front and i tried to make a u-turn but i ended up being forced to go into the parking structure, getting a little ticket but then making the u-turn and hoping that there would be no charge, there wasn’t, and finally exiting and seeing her there.

she was in her 60s, platinum hair. law professor out here on vacation.

as she talked i thought i heard something.

do i detect a midwest accent? i asked.

i’m from chicago, she said. i turned around my cap and said, did you see this?

she laughed. no, i missed that. and we were off.

i asked her if she went to the cubs victory parade, she said, not only that but my husband and i went to a world series game.

it was hot today. 85 or so. the AC was on and when she said that i turned it down one tick so i could hear her clearly.

he said, im gonna do it. i said if you do don’t tell me any of the details, she said.

i said, tickets were four thousand dollars. each.

she said, i told him and now i will tell you, do not tell me the details.

she laughed.

later i asked her something about her husband and she paused and said, he’s passed now.

but he had a long life and got to see the Cubs win the world series after all.

churches have white vans so they can go to baseball games undercover when they should be doing something dumb like buying wholesale incense.

today is danielles birthday. shes 24

danielle

i have a new picture of her but im lazy. i have new stories to tell but im tired. what i can reveal is danielle doesnt look even half her age.

she has the energy of a small child who just ate a box of Smarties and drank a gallon of Kool-Aid

she has jokes. she has insights. she has long legs and beautiful hair.

but most importantly she has style.

i mean soul.

Danielle will win you over in seconds, not minutes. you might not believe it, but you should. its real.

she is real. she keeps it real. she kept it real on her blog but she kept it super real by quitting blogging.

heres my list of people im sad quit blogging:

danielle

the pants

anorexism

the LA Times

etienne

danielle got a room at the ace and said a few things and they said omg danielle THE danielle, would you like a free upgrade?

she said yes yes yes. and they said would you like a room with a balcony and a guitar

a room with a balcony and two lines of cocaine

or a room with a balcony and a record player?

she said do you have any Leonard Cohen records and they said, hipster please, of course!

and maybe thats why she was in such a good mood, she knew she had great tunes waiting for her in her room after the show.

happy birthday miss san dieger!

to celebrate Danielle’s birthday

seu jorgewe went to see Seu Jorge at the Ace.

we had a very special guest, a certain news reporter who i had never met before.

i rushed home so i could change clothes (it was colder than i had expected) and get a Lyft to DTLA

danielle chose Terroni, a cool modern italian joint

her longtime doctor bf was there

he and i talked as the ladies chatted

danielle was in fine form, very excited, beautiful, happy, full of life.

it was great to see her again.

our special guest, claudia, was right there with danielle, very energetic, bouncing with danielle

as we walked to the ace danielle handed us sparklers

we walked down broadway and this well dressed black dude freestyled

and then asked us for money

but i was all, hes dressed better than i have ever dressed.

the show was great. it was just Seu and his guitar.

he told some funny stories about learning the Bowie cover tunes

he had never toured with this material before.

the crowd was waaaaay into it.

many were wearing the red caps from the Wes Anderson film, A Life Aquatic, that Seu performed the songs for orignally.

we walked to city hall.

she drove me home.

i fell asleep like a rock.

three beers will do that to me.

fun night all around!

danielle came to town, so we did a photo shoot

today is the 24th birthday of one of the coolest people you’ll ever meet

danielle

Danielle!

danielle and i met many moons ago when we both worked at E!

i remember clearly how one of the producers said omg tony youre going to love this new girl we hired.

i thought ah shes a cub fan? shes into balding black men? she can levitate?

danielle

turned out she was a free spirit who loved bukowski and posing for pictures and wearing hot clothes and writing and embracing life will full force.

the first time we talked we connected right away. we talked and talked and talked.

after that we went to lunch together almost every day, and even went on coffee breaks before and after lunch.

danielle

rarely would we go to dinner. or hang out at night. which was fine because really we were cushioning the misery that we both shared working in that lifesucking building.

for some reason danielle moved to san dieger to get her masters, which she got, but as anyone who has spent much time down there knows, sd can suck the life right out of you too. which is what is happening to our fair princess.

she needs to move outta there. she needs to find her prince charming. like X said many years ago, shes gotta get out (get out) get out (get out) get oooooout.

danielle

its remarkable that such a beautiful person inside and out can have such bad luck with the opposite sex when all she wants to do is love and celebrate life, but such is the curious case of danielle k.

i heart her so, but even i am repulsed by the 619 so ive only visited her a few times, which makes me a bad friend, which i am. but this weekend or next i will see her and give her a great birthday gift.

until then, as the little drummer boy said, i have this gift for you parumpapumppum.

danielle

happy birthday danielle – the reason its so sunny in san diego is because of your warm soul

and sparkling eyes

and the way you skinny dip in the pacific thinking no one can see you

omg danielle was here this weekend

and we did a few photoshoots

IMG_5476

she was in town after vacationing in St. Thomas

IMG_5470

she inspired me to get this new $100 lens the dudes have been talking about

IMG_5422

gotta say, it really is as amazing as they say

IMG_5338

plus its nice to have such willing of a model.

IMG_5389

i think we took a gazillion pics. so i promise there will be more up here laters.

danielle’s making it work

danielle is overdue for a new busblog photoshoot

but it is a tad heartbreaking

I also had my edd hearing in appealing unemployment
that I am gonna lose for sure.
its the man against one lowly little girl.
So that is basically the crap I have been dealing with…
but at least they all have outcomes and I can deal
and then close the chapter.
I am so not going to complain right now.
I am going to say Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas
out there. Wish I was one. Maybe some day.

keep yr girl in yr prayers, she deserves a break

danielle always forgets that nothing

in here is true and i always forget that she reads this so baby this is for you.

drank one pbr after another last night at the Drawing Room with a lovely young lady who matched me with hard booze. and it was hitting me pretty square in the eyes so i said lets have some tacos.

and it turned out that i had already taken her to the one taco place i was gonna taker so she said lets go somewhere else so we went to burrito king on the corner of alverado and sunset over in echo park.

i had three grilled fish tacos and she had two fried one grilled and mine were sloppy and messy and delicious and i can still smell them on my fingers which makes me want more of them but its 7am and ive been up all night with technical difficulties trying to throw out the first pitch of this

Neighborhood Project

that im rolling out today on LAist. why? because my eyes are bigger than my stomach and its so big theres no way we can do it but that reminded me of this teenage girl from the lbc who graduated high school early so she could climb mount everest before she went off to stanford.

and i love women, dont get me wrong. but when a girl

climbs mount everest, you pretty much cant say “oh no i cant do _____ because its too hard.” because some little skinny girl from 10 minutes from compton climbed mt fucking everest.

so yeah there are 174 neighborhoods in LA and we’re going to write a post about all of them. i just did the first one and it took all night. hopefully the next one wont be so difficult.

speaking of home run hitting contests, i didnt watch this year because no cubs were in it and im a homer.

i tried to convince danielle that she should get a web cam and become a youtube star but pretty much no one listens to a word i say

except for ms karisa j who bought the truck i told her to get because she used to have it and it just fit her perfectly so she got another one and when i asked her what color it is she said black

which is always the correct answer.

ps a hot babe sent me pix of herself in underwears. thanks.

being unemployed means

having time to read fox news dot com. and the view. and the today show. and regis and kelly.

In honor of the new Jennifer Aniston-Vince Vaughn flick “The Break-Up,” which opens Friday, Universal Pictures and Budweiser have declared June 2 “National Break-Up Day.”

so because brad dumped jen we’ve all gotta break up? hmmmmm. not quite sure im into that one.

i slept on the couch last night because i didnt want to believe that i was getting sleepy at 3am. i also didnt want to sleep all day. its gorgeous here in los angeles and its 10:46am and if i were to drive somewhere like san diego now would be a good time to jump in the shower.

heres the only problem with san diego, as much as i love danielle, i hate san diego. i want it to fall into the ocean. i want then for there to be a vortex and it gets sucked into the vortex. then i want the vortex to implode or get trapped in a mine or a well.

you know who would try to get san diego out of a mine? old people. but old people have very bad backs so they wouldnt be able to get san diego out of the mine or well and it would just die there as the cameras rolled.

and after a while it would begin to smell.

and people would blame tijuana.

i have two options for next week. i could get in a car and start driving. or i could hang out in my house and wake up at noon and go to the cinema every day with a newly unemployed cuban girl.

who has a boyfriend.

however i thought i saw a billboard that said what happens at the grove stays at the grove. because generally i would prefer that.

its 11:30am. they say its gonna be a hot one.

i need a laptop.

or a summer college intern with a laptop.

a very special melting dolls + courtney + zulieka + no healani
