i got interviewed twice today

Stussi interviewed me and asked me to describe Matt Good in one word.

i wanted to be funny and say, “a lot shorter than he looks on tv” but i left the comedy for raymi, who you should never try to follow unless youre going to set your hair on fire, or raymis hair on fire.

the crazy thing is, my hands have been hurting so much that i wasnt able to do that interview for two days. but i guess now that i feel better that everythings fine. life went on.

Stussi taught me something in the intro that i didnt know. i had no clue that i had dropped to 566. wasnt i in the 200s not that long ago? this getting involved with work shit is a nightmare for my numbers.

and you know what, if the numbers at LAist keep going up then i dont care really about the numbers over here.

what is very strange is people dont want to see Ramones videos they dont want to see Soul Asylum videos, they dont even really want to see Miss Universe contestants on this blog, they want to hear my beautiful lies about the girls i kiss in west hollywood while walking to the car that i didnt have to pay to park for.

the car that is dirty inside and out but you get lucky sometimes and make out with a girl who couldnt care less that the car is now making her $200 jeans dusty and birdshitty, all she cares about is biting your tounge any time you dare shove it in there.

soul asylum was good last night. not great, but good. the new songs sounded a little light in the loafers but i guess the boys have to eat, so there you are masses, some pop anthems that you seem to be lapping up any time the goo goo dolls shove it out there.

beers at the troubador were $7. two really cute bartendresses who did a great job but $7, seriously, for a bottle of corona? on a tuesday night?

the sad thing about going to shows of bands you listened to in college is also the good thing about going to shows of bands you listened to in college: the dudes your age who are also re-living their past. they all look really old. they all look like peoples dads. they all drink miller lite.

i say re-live your past up against a dirty car with a girl who still gets a student discount.

i also got interviewed by LA Taco who asked me what my favorite taco is. be prepared to be hugely disappointed in your boy.

the pants got a camera cord + raymi is a triple threat + flagrant is my bodyguard

soul asylum circa 1988

And they cut off your wings and replaced them with strings
Now the strings are attached to everything
It’s twisted and tangled and troubled with anger
But somehow you still swing

Tried all my tricks I tried to steal a kiss
Splinters and slivers stuck all over my lips
She thinks she must be doing something wrong
They pull the strings and then they string you along

ive been blogging my ass off for the last month

and now my arms smell of icy hot because im now what they call playing hurt, so lets rock.

i was taped for broadcast today but i didnt make the cut. oh well. it was for nbc4 news. i think theyre using me maybe but ive been exploited my whole life dan aakroyd said in blues brothers so there.

this is one of the best times ive ever had being employed. i am going to go to bed very soon, which is early for me, so as to rest my hands. theres a reason the Lord said we should take a day off. just one he said.

today i had to wake up early to deposit a check in the bank. im not sure if i deposited it on time or not but things have a way of working out sometimes and i think this is going to work out.

have i mentioned that i cant believe how lucky i am to get paid to do exactly what i would love to do if you put a magic wand in my hand and say pick your job the people you work with the shit you will be asked to do the freedom that youd like the hours that youd like and the clothes that you will get to wear.

ive been topless for two days america. thats the clothes i get to wear.

tomorrow i will put on clothes because im going to take pictures of soul asylum, one of my favorite bands from college. karisa and i saw dave pirner last year i think and lets just say it was nice to be drinking with karisa.

the best thing about yesterday on the laist is something that most people will overlook. yes antis picture of the motorcycle dude and his dogs is classic, but what most people will not realize is how many different people contributed yesterday and how many did so for the first time.

that needs to be a column on the spreadsheet of growth: noobs

howard stern is on the second week of his vacation. its amazing how much i listen to that show. i miss the show but i think that they earned two weeks in a row off. these weeks in july everyones on vacation. the most successful radio move ever deserves some time to enjoy their riches.

small island girl + anti’s southbay + doc searls on the sbnp

this is antidisestablishmentarian

for years he was one of my top ten favorite bloggers of all times.

then one day he stopped blogging and only buzznetted. then he even stopped doing that.

maybe it had to do with the college that he was attending and getting straight a’s but you know maybe it was just lonely at the top.

but as they say in history class, that shits history. anti is back. he can be read on LAist. and best of all you can see his videos on there now too.

why is this man smiling? because the future of blogging is video like his.

and chicks with video cameras, or people who figure out how to use the video mode on their digital cams who’ll show us around their worlds too.

and also because he knows that, especially in hollywood, theres dudes who sit around in editing bays all the time fucking around with funny little two or three minute clips and would love to send them in anonymously but dont know that the address is thelaist at gmail dot com

antis also smiling because there are lots of talented people in los angeles who have reels or clips or little tiny five minute movies of something interesting that really should see the light of day.

we live in amazing times anti told me at the good luck club in los feliz last week. and i said yep. and we drank free booze and listened to good music and a few minutes later another one of the LAist contributers went next door to the fabulous Vista Theatre and talked to the general manager who was dressed up in a pirate outfit and then was allowed into the projection room and given a nice little tour.

a few hours later, it was on the web. just as good as anything youd see on the evening news, if not better because there were no time limitations and you could watch it as many times as you wanted.

today was supposed to be my day of rest but i worked all day pretty much even though my hands are hurting. somehow theyre feeling better today. maybe because i slept so much better last night without a bony barely legal filipina snoring up the damn place.

i remember when seinfeld was on tv. and i remember being so jealous of jerry because every week some super hot babe would show up and be crazy and jerry would dump her. and id think thats funny because its impossible. friends, its not impossible.

i had a very nice talk with jeanine today and i told her, sometimes life is so tiring. and she said, thats why theres so many chairs everywhere.

stream sufjan‘s latest illinois release + storytoday yesterday + media massacre in santa barbara

lindsays stoked because shes no longer a teen

and she knows that i gave up teens for lent, 2005.

i woke up at two pm today. can you believe that shit.

girls here wear bikinis as clothes and after a while it actually does lose some of its omg appeal but some of it surprises you at two pm when you hear The Hills on in the living room.

lc has the worst boyfriend.

now we’re watching cheyenne.

i just want to lay here all day but theres some xbi shit ive got to take care of today, strangely enough.

typically not a saturday requirement but we ask so little of each other that its uncomfortable to ever say no, in a nice way.

hard to explain.

when i was younger i thought that once i was sixteen everything would be great.

then i thought having my own car would make everything great.

then i thought having a chick roll you a perfect joint while in a bikini and invite you to wake n bake would be perfect on a summers day.

a saturday at that.

i think im going gay because one reason im going to stoke the xbi today is because i cant talk with this girl at all.

ive only met one other person my whole life who had zero interests and that was so long ago i thought she was a one of a kind.

but nope.

unrelated, while doing a little research on the Orange County al Qaeda dude who was on tv this week,

it turns out his parents are like super hippies who moved to orange county to start a ranch that would raise beef in a humane way.

i just realize i had a dream last night where i was analyzing my batting stance.

when i get to heaven i want to play short,

lead off,

and be on the traveling team.

best thing about heaven? its a hitters league. cuz who cares if you get hit.

lgf was on fire yesterday + la scumbag + man proves that vegetables are bad for you

the good luck bar

thursday night july sixth two thousand and sixx

basart was being photo journalist and he made me realize that i use a lot of hand signals when im in a loud bar.

maybe because im never sitting in the back area when i go to the good luck bar in los feliz that i didnt know how loud the music can get back there. we had a good sized group and we got there early enough to get a nice corner and listen to the jukebox get played. a nice combo of eighties, disco, and todays soundz.

i believe i even heard a little country western.

everyone that i met was really super nice and smart and they knew instantly that anti tanky basart and the pants were from another world and called them out. afterwards basart nominated my place for the after party and it was seconded before i could say that my house was messy but no was not being taken for an answer.

before all that i had a very pleasant dinner with gothamist publisher jake dobkin at one of those outside tables at fred 62 and before he arrived i nerded out on this pretty amazing ibm thinkpad that ended up in my possession.

but before we go any further, ive heard good and bad things about the verizon evdo system and so far ive had pretty good luck. granted i havent really left the tristate area.

tonight i went to see the rentals at the henry ford music box. because of the gig i can get free tickets to a lot of shows as long as i have my shit together but i didnt have my shit together but i didnt care. i love the rentals and matt sharp is an interesting musical dude. i hope he doesnt hate me for falling in love with his girlfriend who i will probably gush over in tomorrows review over at the LAist.

this chick is hot, ambi-musical, and has the perfect voice for the rentals. its freaky. he has surrounded himself with a really good band that started the show with a violin solo and had two trombone appearances and what i think was a pedal steel on one particular number that was amazing.

so there i was standing on the far left almost next to the speaker but far enough away that it didnt hurt my ears and i get a tap on the shoulder from an old coworker from E! who has a wristband for me to go backstage. but then there was drama with the security guards and i just went back to watching the show. i listen to the rentals every week at least, and have for close to 11 years now. i dont need to meet them.

in fact the only time i ever met matt was at a soma show i think at spaceland and i was all dude i love your shit. and he was you love my _shit_?

and sometimes its just better to lie to stars by saying stuff like, “bro, that black dude has five dollar hits of e.”

which i may or may not have said to a popular television personality on my way to the mens room, who may or may not have gotten punched in the chest by the offended person of color.

mr sharp said many times how happy we had made him feel by being at the show.

he really is whats missing in weezer.

vanmega + im back on team lindsay + lets take over the news-press

a year ago this week i made a list
