step one: get a hammer
step two: get a screw driver and a screw. step three: screw the screw into the cork
step four: use the hammer to slowly pry the screwed cork
repeat, pull slowly

I have definitely done that before, clearly sans glasses at the end of the ordeal.

This is news I can use!
you can also wrap it in a towel and firmly tap the bottom of the bottle repeatedly on a wall until the cork works itself out enough to grab and yank the rest of the way out with your hand.
At least you had the tools to do that. I had to improvise in a college dorm.
