(Because he reminds her of me)
my girlfriend kirsten dunst is fantastic in fargo
i cant say i have seen her in very many great things lately. what has she even been in?
from 2011-2014, heres what shes been up to:
The Two Faces of January
Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues
El Trousias Maiden of the Clouds
Upside Down
On the Road
Bachelorette
Random Acts of Violence
Melancholia
of those I saw Melancholia, which she was fantastic in but man was it weird and she really didnt get to show off a whole range.
in fargo she got to play lots of different aspects of a woman going through a change in her life.
in fact she is stretching so much, trying to become “fully realized” someone asks her if shes crazy.
THATS WHAT WE WANT!
is she crazy? no. has crazy stuff happened to her? hell yeah.
kirsten gained about 25 pounds for the role because the character is pretty but not a bombshell. typical hoarder next door who wants to be more of an independent woman while being a good wife.
i dont know who else they had in mind for this role, but she was perfect. and now my love for her has only intensified.
very excited that she will star in season three, but what on earth could they have in store for her?
one thing i learned from “making a murderer” is jail makes you fat
i guess cuz you’re just sitting around reading russian literature all day.
today im at work for the first time in almost two weeks. it’s nice. but god im tired.
my body got used to not doing squat and not having to wake up.
my only new years resolution is to pay off my credit card balance by october.
it’s close to $5k.
it got that high because it’s all of my other credit cards. i moved them all over because this one has no interest until october.
i did the math and basically if i dont eat out for lunch at work and just make sandwiches i can pay it off by october and all will be kool and the gang.
jeanine made the most delicious lunch for me today and im sitting here at my desk eating it and writing to you and wishing i was on my way to eat sushi.
but i figure it will be good to have an empty credit card by october because thats when the cubs will be in the world series and
WE WILL ALL BE SPENDING HELLA MONEY FOR WORLD SERIES TICKETS, AIR TRAVEL AND OLD STYLE BEER.
this is the year, btw, in case you havent noticed.
no pressure, cubbies.
what i did over my Christmas vacation

- watched all of Fargo – weirdly i liked season one best
- made money
- brunched with ali and aj
- told a babe to meet me in a DTLA alley at midnight for new years
- watched all of making a murderer and had all sorts of feels
- played a bunch of NBA y2k2015
- played a bunch of NBA Jam
- clipped the cats nails
- ate poorly
- then ate well
- bought MLB.tv streaming for this season
- changed my sheets
i have one job today
i have to do my laundry and get some apple juice
then i will go back to watching How To Make A Murderer.
i have lived in this apartment since april 2001. nearly 15 years.
part of me feels like a loser for not having a mortgage by now, and giving a chunk of my paycheck to people who dont really love me.
how do i know? they gave me a Christmas card with a $5 Starbucks giftcard in it. Seriously, $5?
i have thought about laying down a new kitchen floor and adding a washer dryer and maybe a dishwasher, but i always thought, nah, imma be outta here soon. why bother? plus they’ll probs tell me no.
so the other day, as the year was ending, i was looking at my credits and debts and then i did something i never ever ever do: i looked on Craigslist for something used. namely a used washer dryer.
$500, delivered? hell, i made that driving Uber on NYE. maybe i should just go for it and never have to struggle to put my dirty drawers in a sack and shlep it to the mexican coin laundry where either they have telenovellas or soccer on or THEY TURN OFF THE TVS EVEN IF THERES A GREAT NFL GAME ON.
so i called the landlord and left a message to give them a heads up that i’m gonna pull this trigger very soon. it wasnt really asking permission, just a “hey if theres anything you want me to make sure to do, please lemme know.”
they cant really tell me no because everyone else in this building has one. but i never expected them to paint my purple bathroom or red living room white, so who knows how they might respond.
something tells me the lack of love comes from the fact that this year, even after my 14th year of rent control increases, i’m still shelling out less than a grand a month for this magical space. but it’s still money and i pay it every month a week early, an xbi trait, and ive never been anything but an angel tenant.
either way, hopefully this will be my last trip to the coin laundry. ever.
ali and aj came over and we all ate brunch
the best part of friends is they push your boundaries
they help you grow as a person.
me, i do everything i can to avoid growing, but fortunately i have been blessed by people around me who actually enjoy maturing, learning, and developing into even better versions of who they once were.
aj had the french toast with carmalized bananas
ali had the cobb salad
and i had the bacon eggs and grits. the grits were bad, the bacon was thick and wonderful
but aj won with her waffles which were amazing and delicious and understated and devilish.
be careful when you order a small juice at square one because it will be a little baby size
like omg i think you get more in a juice box.
i need to open a dennys in silver lake, but not cool like fred 62, but not trashtown like an actual dennys. somewhere in between. eggs bacon and vegan crud for the vegans, but when you order a juice you get a real glass of some damn juice. that shit does actually grow on trees, you know. dont be stingy.
i could drink a bucket of juice.
at my ghetto dennys i might actually serve buckets of juice. $5 for a large glass. $19.76 for a bucket for the table. fucker comes with a ladle. maybe its a souvenir ladle. great, you talked me into it. $19.76 it comes with a ladle for you to take home and show your friends.
maybe call the place the silver ladle.
bands’ll play.
yesterday i had an idea, last night a vision, this morning a dream

first let me tell you about my dream. i never dream. the xbi cut that problem out of my head.
but every now and then they try to telecast something in there to f with me and it does because its startling.
secondly let me tell you i love you. i do. and im sorry ive been such a failure lately. thats ending.
in the dream we were looking out at a nice swimming pool. in the pool was this computer graphic
it sorta looked like the Academy Award. it was huge. and i was all, how are you doing that, it looks so real.
was it a hologram? was it some weird 3D rendering? as a journalist till i die, i got into the pool to touch it.
when i did, it turned toward me and sort of wilted and then drowned.
suddenly everyone was extremely upset with me and all these storm troopers marched into the pool with me
but every time i touched one of them they too would wither and drown
then Darth Vader showed up. Then another Darth Vader, a lamer, more emo one.
so i got the f out of the pool and hid.
hiding in dreams, just like in life, is a worthless exercise.
i tried to blend in but all the people around me, who seemed to be sorta slow, robotic, but sweet
just went about their dealings while announcing what they were doing
mopping the floor. floor two, building nine. looking up. building nine. who is this? anthony pierce.
anthony pierce?
anthony pierce.
ANTHONY PIERCE ALERT ALERT
i was in major shit for killing all those things in the pool!
and then i woke up.
lets start this year off with the truth: i dont know squat

i thought tonight was going to be dead. i thought all the new drivers were gonna drive and all of the passengers would be terrified of giant surge rates and this year would turn into what happened last year which was awfulness.
but just the opposite happened. hardly any drivers drove because they all got burned last year. meanwhile the last few weeks with Uber have been pretty much surge-free. ALSO lyft has pretty much the same rates and if you drive 30+ hours with lyft, you get a bonus. uber has no bonus.
therefore drivers who work both platforms stayed with lyft tonight. and straight up uber drivers either didnt work or made bank.
and here lies a huge problem with uber that i hope they see: because they’re sooooo inconsistent they are the same as being untrustworthy. lyft is always consistent, thus on big nights like new years, drivers are going to drive for lyft.
and because lyft does nice things like allows (and encourages) tipping, and has frequent driver bonuses, drivers drive for lyft. all night. and that causes a lack of supply on uber on a night of unprecedented demand.
THERE WERE VERY FEW CARS ON THE ROADS IN LA TONIGHT. why? because we have become used to ride sharing and we are tired of paying $15 for parking, and we want to drink. thus anyone who was going out was taking uber or lyft.
i was jetting around from the east side to the west side up to inglewood to usc to culver city, then out to venice to ring in the new year with ali and the roads were beautiful. only uber and lyft drivers pretty much, which also meant very few accidents or drunk drivers. we dont need no robot cars.
did someone try to puke in my car? yes. someone actually did puke in it, but i had the barf bag ready and i whipped it to her and she used the bag and all was well. nerve-racking, but a huge success. here it is now 4:40am and i still cant believe what went down. no car accidents, no insanity, no puke, and i got home and jeanine had some indian food and i warmed it up and now imma pass out and sleep my first sleep of this year with the realization that every day is a new day. respect it for what it is: a blank slate.
2010 tonight will say when

this year was as good as any year i suppose. good stuff happened, bad stuff happened.
in the long run, fortunately there was more good stuff than bad.
traveled more than i normally do. saw more movies than normal. went to the bowl more.
bought more new cars than normal. got luckier than normal, wink. took better pictures.
the blackhawks became world champs, the cubs became whatevers the opposite of that.
interviewed bruce willis, hugh hefner, and bababooey.
kissed a girl who looked like alecia keys in the late night mist in texas.
was completely amazed and in agreement with who tops the best concert of the year: Monotonix
cleaned up my credit which strangely was the only thing i accomplished from my resolution list.
didnt give blood enough didnt work out enough didnt eat right at all.
but i think i only missed one or two days of blogging.
resolutions for 2011: be more free and effective
and drastically change the busblog
happy nude year
