this will either be the biggest month ever for LAist

or the second biggest month. thats a nice done-deal going into the last week of the month.

i write you at 2:19am on wednesday morning. im watching the end of the first quarter of the bears saints game. i may watch this game every day for the next week and a half.

i seriously cant believe the bears have such a great shot at winning the superbowl. im scared that theyre playing indy but im glad theyre playing indy cuz indys good and peyton has a good reason to try to win and if the bears win they will have beaten NO who were America’s Team and they would have beaten indy who probably has the best qb in football.

if only we could fuck up the field in miami as much as it was fucked up at soldier field.

we had 19 posts at LAist yesterday and id gladly put them up against the last 19 posts that similar blogs put up there yesterday:

yes, yesterday was an excellent day

im not sure ive yet recovered.

they say today is the saddest day of the year, but if youre a bears fan today is the best day of the year. today is the day you get to wear a bears tshirt or shirt or sweatshirt or hat

or rubber.

today was the last day of the euroteen so we drove around melrose trying to find the condom store cuz i wanted to see if they had any chicago bears ones.

negatory, as she says.

today i have to get the keg out of welch’s back yard, i have to book my hotel for sxsw, i have to answer a gazillion emails because ive been distracted, and i have to tell you about this dude in that video.

hes crazy. steve albini is into him. he basically created sufjan. hes a religious fantatic like i am. he can get people to stay years of their lives just hanging out with him.

he sings like the dude in that one band.

he will make you happy today.

stoke anti and LAist: digg this story anti did of interviewing a marijuana card holder

i talked to my truest the other day.

i partied with my friends tonight.

im going to go to sleep soon and wake up and it will be like christmas because — i am so paranoid and superstitious sometimes which goes against my Christianity.

i had so much fun tonight with my friends and coworkers of LAist in the back yard of emannuelle and matt’s home.

we tried to drink all of the beer out of the keg but we couldnt

we tried to burn all the wood while sitting around the fire pit but we couldnt

we tried to figure out a better place to be than LA and we couldnt

we did talk a lot about Santa Barbara though

i was so stoned at the beginning of the party that i didnt recognize Defamer as he walked up the driveway with his beautiful girlfriend, so i got to drinking quickly so as to regain my vision.

i met some new LAisters who are awesome. i got to hang with Joe from Martini Republic

i got to hang with steve and LYT and ben and ken and laura and kim and man the list could go on and on

and i dont know if the bible says Everything in Moderation, but if it doesnt it really should because

if you spend too much time in LA without going to IV for a few hours a month, youre blowing it

and if you spend too much time in your apartment with topless teenagers without going out and hanging with your real friends for a few hours a month, youre blowing it

theres so much to do in this town, there are so many people here who know me and support me and inspire me, to laze around my many mansions with barely legals while trying to figure out different variations of 69 is important to science

but ultimately taxing to ones sensibilities.

met Eric Neel from espn who suggested a visit to santa anita of which i said you dont have to ask me twice.

he told me that hes on romeys tv show “rome is burning” a lot which made me realize that as much as like jim for some reason i dont watch him on tv. and yet i watch pti and around the horn. fascinating.

i am still online dating. i am still spending all my waking moments thinking about LAist. i am still not playing the sg copy that i bought over a year ago.

remind me to write the opinion piece i wanna write called any black who doesnt vote for obama is no longer black.

if someone said tony one day theres gonna be a black president from illinois in 2008 i woulda said oh you flatter me.

most of you who read matt good

know that he has a new blog. i think the over / under of different matt good blogs this year is 5.

yesterday in the comments he was asked about his exwife…

rilah: i know your recent writing has focussed on your loss (maybe even sense of betrayal, though i wouldn’t want to assume), but i wonder…negating the accountability question, if you could go back and change time and have never gotten married, would you?

matt good: I don’t think, at this point, given what’s happened this past year and what’s been revealed to me, that the question – “would I have gotten married knowing what I know” is applicable. To be totally honest, and I’ve had 12 months to think about this, I’d rather have never met her at all. I’d rather have never spent a minute of my life with her, and I know that sounds harsh, but it is unfortunately the truth and a position that I don’t ever see changing in my lifetime. That is a truly horrible conclusion to come to regarding someone that you were married to. But that presupposes that you actually knew them in the first place, and the truth is, having found out otherwise, and having been revealed true colours, I can’t honestly say that I ever did actually know her.

today is whit from ugly kid joe’s birthday

br />

two biggest bands that came out of santa barbara when i went to school there
ugly kid joe and toad the wet sprocket
youd never know how great the scene was by that little fact but there it is
its also a little weird that marco who played with tons of bands back then
is in a top 40 santa barbara band now, sugarcult
anyways, happy birthday whit, happy birthday iv

the truth about the matter

is that some of us are streaky. meaning some of us can knock out ten twelve paintings in a week. or read three books in a month. or get four girls in a row to say yes tony of course.

im on a little bit of a streak at my job. im also on a little bit of a streak at not my job. was, at least.

heres a new rule i will be making for the girls who say yes tony of course, from now on.

from now on they arent allowed to say that i cant write about it in my web log.

its hard enough steering the oceanliner of a blog during the 9-5 but to know that there are good tales to tell on the busblog and not be allowed to is outrageous.

im thinking i was a gentleman for 100 years. maybe theres no need to be a gentleman any more. whats the use?

10 years later the girls just say, shit i wish i hadnt made you delete all those pictures of me because i never looked that hot again

and you want to jump off a bridge.

because you did delete those pictures

because you are a gentleman

and now youre a fool if you do it again.

i want to go to vegas this weekend because i didnt get to go to ces and i didnt get to go hang with matt good and i dont think i will be able to go there for super bowl weekend and check out artie lange because i dont want to do anything that i didnt do last weekend when the bears barely won.

unfortunately theres a pair of teenage legs that i wont be inbetween this weekend unless something miraculous happens between tonight and sunday morn.

and theres a party for layne on saturday night and i seriously doubt she will want to go there meaning im screwed meaning the bears might be screwed too

meaning maybe i will go to vegas on superbowl weekend if the bears arent in it but i dont even want to think that way. this season has been so incredible and i cant even believe that i was at two of their games despite living nowhere near them.

yesterday my mom reminded me how good the readers of the busblog have been to me over the years and i should be more grateful of them and i said youre right.

its very difficult to write a blog when you know that your mom is reading. especially if shes very proper and polite and well mannered and couth.

because all you want to do is end your posts suddenly with phrases like

butt holes
