the ucla undie run

in the middle of finals everyone strips down and runs around campus

yes in some colleges they get naked. yes in some colleges they run through fountains.

but fortunately at ucla its a little more civilized, which allows people like former LAist sports editor Adam Rose, a chance to have some intellectual dialogue with the future leaders of the free world.

today is Top of the Ticket’s second birthday

it’s the LA Times’ political blog helmed by the tireless Andrew Malcolm.

Andy was one of the first people who warmly welcomed me to the Times about six months after they launched the blog, and he is still one of the best bloggers we have because:

he is always open to try new things,
he is alwas blogging (day and night),
and he has completely entrenched himself in the blogosphere.
he makes friends with other bloggers,
he learns from the kids in their pajamas in regards to what works online that doesnt work in print
he is never resting on his laurels: of which he has many.

because of that, Top of the Ticket is consistently in our top 2-3 blogs and has accounted for almost 100,000 comments, more than 16,000 Twitter followers (and growing 100+ per day) and produced in excess of 33 million page views for the Los Angeles Times.

it is a great joy to work with Andy, Johanna, Steve, Kate and all of the fine journalists who contribute to this great success story.

it’s exactly the reason i wanted to come to the Times. i wanted to work with committed professionals passionate about doing great work in a new medium.

here we have andy pictured with a box full of cupcakes that sarah got from Aunti Ems. theyre little tiny cute cupcakes that are delicious and tiny so instead of downing a ton of empty calories you actually lose pounds eating them because they’re so minuscule in size.

later we went out for a sushi lunch to celebrate and there was much rejoicing because the future only looks bright for the National Desk and the fabulous blog.

happy 2nd birthday Ticket!

how to get more McNuggets for your McMoney

as you know i eat mcdonalds all the time. i eat it less now that my nutritionist can track my every move via my iPhone. but i will have cheerleaders make McRuns for me – usually in the middle of the night.

one thing i have noticed is how much more fast food is costing than in the past.

i remember a day when a $2.99 value meal was commonplace. now its rare. and usually only includes a small pop.

today on Digg, i saw a story that gives those of us who enjoy mcnuggets a way to beat the system!

Depending on where you live, your [four] nuggets cost a buck if you get them on the Dollar Menu. That’s a quarter each. Get 10, and you pay around $4, or 40¢ each. Spring for the whole 20-piece banquet, and the price is more than $7, or 35¢ per bird chunk.

If you really want 20 nuggets (and I must remind you that chickens do not actually produce nuggets in nature), just buy five orders off the Dollar Menu and you can save two bucks. Two bucks! Most of us assume that the larger portion options and set meals are available because they offer economy of scale. Clearly, that’s a Kroc.

read the whole deal here, but make sure you run a few miles after you have digested your McGreasy

phil spector is bald!?

and adam lambert is gay?!?!

my whole world is currently shattered. and im hungry. and im thirsty.

and im totally swamped with work. and my truest is driving up here as we speak.

and the cubs are about to win it all.

its this girls birthday

shes timeless

winner over of every lover, my truest was born when a commotion in heaven sent one busty angel into isla vista when no one was looking.

craziest thing, i met her at a party when i was in love with jeanine, but i was so in love with her there was no other girls in town. xcept for that one time when those two came over to “listen to music”, but i digress.

chris’s birthday is today and maybe one reason i love her so is because she hasnt shot me yet. it isnt pleasant to be around me for long periods of time. i’ll even take pictures when yr sleeping.

chris lives in a bad part of california. i wont even go down there. but she is quite possibly moving to a great part of california: 90069. for real.

but shes resisting it. no problem in deepest darkest afrique but the possibility of living in LA makes her hesitate like a young doe.

i know a lot of girls who enjoy games.

like game night games, pervs.

shes good at the games and plays seriously. my strategy is to play ridiculously.

but when she plays you can see something at work in there different. and its cute.

and its no wonder that uganda is fixed now, well mostly, all because she was there.

id like to buy her a necklace that says gemini in cursive with diamonds on it but i just saw blood diamond and im not that romantic.

for the record steve o is totally straight edge now

when he walked up the aisle last night at the movies and sat down next to me

i wanted to say something as a little ice breaker. anything other than omg steve-o!

so i said, hope you brought the ganj, bro cuz im all out

and he said ahahah im 15 months sober

i was all, so you were telling Howard Stern the truth?

steve said, yep, infact see this tattoo? it used to be a pot leaf

and he showed me the underside of his wrist that had a tattoo of a palm tree.

after the film everyone went to the swanky roosevelt where lilo and paris hang

and steve o and his gf went home. sober. hand in hand. very sweet

i went to a movie premiere tonight in hollywood

bunch of famous stars and athletes were there

went with my college roommate who rules eternity

one of the hilton sisters was there

but the best was because we were on the red carpet for most of the begining part
we didnt have a good seat for the movie itself,
so we sat all the way in the back row

right next to steve o and his super cool girlfriend.
swear to god.

afterwards we all partied at the roosevelt across the street
and the whole time i thought of u
