i heart you. i heart you with all my heart.
i heart you so much that you dont even know.
mostly because youre sweet and always say sweet things.
but second mostly because youve put up with the death of Haloscan and the putsch of Echo or whatever that thing is that has replaced our dear old comment box.
i heart you because i know how hard it is to leave a comment in that box now, especially if theres a video in the post. i heart you because you muddle through all the nonsense just to brighten my day.
i heart you because you have been raised right and are paying things forward.
there was a time when this blog would get dozens of comments in each and every post. i suppose those were also the days when i had hair, but i dont think the slowdown on one affected the slowdown of the other.
indeed i know that there are fewer comments today than ever before primarily because this new comment system is the worst user experience ever presented on this hallowed blog.
what i am here to tell you is, this too will pass.
there will be a day this year when the busblog and all that is here will move to a new platform. and it probably wont be Blogger. it will probably rhyme with Bird Stress.
i have done my best to remain loyal to the date i came to prom with, but over the 8-9 years that we’ve been slowdancing, she hasnt learned any new moves, and her dress seems more than tattered around the edges
and unfortunately it appears that her heart isnt in it any more.
how do i know this? because of the comments. Blogger saw that when Haloscan got worked over by Echo that bloggers on Blogger had two options: either use the stinky ass Blogger comments, or use the stinky ass Haloscan comments.
if i was king of the world, or better king of Blogger, id say oooo we have an opportunity here to do something great with comments.
i mean, Blogger isnt just Blogger, its Google. and whereas Google loves introducing new products (most recently Buzz), dont you think theyd be just as interested in improving a product used by millions of loyal customers? especially if said product (in this case a commenting product) could easily be integrated with Buzz (and Gmail, and Wave, and other Google products)?
instead they have appeared to turn their backs on Blogger. so if Google has abandoned the platform, exactly who am i being loyal to?
the most important people on this blog are you, the readers. i should be loyal to you.
because i heart you too.
so i thank you for your patience and i promise things will get better sooner as opposed to later.
ironic because i just switched back to blogger. their comments aren’t too bad now. you can make them pop-ups if you want, and they give people the option of getting e-mail updates when someone new comments. plus you no longer have to sign in or anything (unless that’s how you set it up).
not trying to sell you, just letting you know.
FWIW I have experienced no negatory issues with your new comment system. Only yer choice in bedsheetz. PS. Chix dig threadcount man. 450 minimum– min i mum! Trust me.
all i want is for my funny little picture to come back.
And we love you back!
My only complaint with this comment system is I can leave a link to my blog. I could type it hear, but then I feel like a whore working a street corner.
As for Blogger, it’s sad but you are right. Google seems to have forgotten they own it or something. I’ve been happier with wordpress. I use wordpress.com for my personal blog and wordpress.org for my state news blog. Love the functionality of both.
you didn’t even mention the fact that they’re going to stop their FTP service in a month too.
I’ve been feeling the same thing about blogger. I think it may be high time for me to act like the web pro I am and just do it myself.
I like your Old Style platter. Fully Kreuzened.
It would be really cool if you had a post about switching over to wordpress.
I’d like to see your opnion on how how easy it is to switch.
One aspect of blogger I don’t like, and I know wordpress does is seeing where the anonymous comments come from.
It sucks having to delete the one person who comes to my blog everyday to tell me I suck.
It would do me good to block him and never see it again.
I dumped blogger pretty much too. the loss of FTP support sucks. I’ll probably end up with a drupal, doing tumblr for now though.
