actually im not sure i hear a rip off.
at all.
infact when this song was a huge hit i sorta hated it cuz they shoved it down our throats.
and over time ive grown to appreciate it.
but this, i think is lame as a boomerang that doesnt come back.

if australia has the same kind of rules as everywhere else, that girl guide tune would have hit public domain right around 1984. also, classical composers reinterpreted folk tunes all the time. plus, what, it took them more than twenty years to notice. bah humbug. leave the funny happy song alone.
The MaW video shows the flute player sitting in a tree playing the riff, a wink and a nod to the original song. I see it more as an homage to the piece than blatant theft of it.
